7 Day Guilin to Zhangjiajie Tour — FAQ
Got Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

Absolutely — this 7-day Guilin to Zhangjiajie tour is one of our most popular itineraries for first-time China visitors precisely because it covers such a stunning variety of landscapes and experiences in a single trip. Your private guide will be with you every step of the way, providing context, history, and local knowledge that makes each destination come alive. No prior China travel experience is needed.
The best months are April–May and September–November. Spring brings lush greenery to the Li River karst scenery and Longji Rice Terraces, while autumn offers crisp clear skies perfect for photography in Zhangjiajie National Park. Summer (June–August) is warm and lush but can be busy and humid. Winter is the quietest season — fewer crowds, lower prices, and misty mountain scenes that make Zhangjiajie look especially otherworldly.
Yes — every tour we run is 100% private, which means the itinerary is fully flexible. If you’d like to add extra days, swap an activity, adjust the pace, or build an entirely custom route, simply contact us before your arrival. We’re experienced at designing bespoke itineraries tailored around your interests, fitness level, and schedule.
The tour involves a moderate level of walking, particularly at Longji Rice Terraces, Tianmen Mountain, and inside Zhangjiajie National Park. Most major attractions are accessible via cable car, elevator (including the famous Bailong Elevator), or bus — so guests who prefer less walking can easily adapt. Please let us know in advance of any mobility considerations or special requirements and we’ll plan accordingly. We welcome travellers of all ages and have extensive experience with families and seniors.
The Bailong Elevator (also known as the Hundred Dragons Elevator) is the world’s tallest outdoor lift, built directly into the face of a towering sandstone cliff in Zhangjiajie National Park. It rises 326 metres in under two minutes and is fully enclosed with glass panels offering breathtaking views of the surrounding forest and rock formations. It is entirely safe, fully certified, and carries thousands of visitors every day. Height-sensitive travellers may prefer to descend by an alternative route — just let your guide know.
Yes — the iconic floating Hallelujah Mountains in James Cameron’s Avatar were directly inspired by the towering sandstone pillar formations of Yuanjiajie Scenic Area in Zhangjiajie National Park. One of the pillars was even officially renamed “Avatar Hallelujah Mountain” in 2010 in honour of the film. Standing on the Yuanjiajie ridge and looking out across the mist-shrouded stone columns is one of the most surreal and memorable experiences in all of China.
All entrance and attraction fees listed in the tour itinerary are included in the tour price. Optional activities, personal purchases, dinners, and any upgrades (such as a premium train seat or a different cable car route) are at your own cost. Your guide will always inform you in advance of any optional extras so there are no surprises.
Guilin is well connected by both air and rail. Guilin Liangjiang International Airport offers direct flights from many major Chinese cities as well as international connections via hubs like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong. Guilin is also accessible by high-speed train from cities including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Changsha, and Guiyang. Once you have your arrival details confirmed, contact us and we’ll arrange a private airport or station pick-up to start your tour seamlessly.
Hotels are not included in the standard tour price but can be arranged at an additional cost. We work with a carefully selected range of hotels at each destination — from comfortable 3-star options to boutique and luxury properties. Please let us know your preferences and budget when booking and we’ll provide tailored accommodation recommendations for each night of the tour.
We understand that travel plans can change. A deposit is required to secure your booking (the amount varies depending on your requirements). Our cancellation policy is as follows:

Please contact us directly if you have any questions about your booking or need to make changes — we always aim to be as flexible and accommodating as possible.
Queues at popular attractions like the Bailong Elevator, Tianmen Mountain cable car, and the main park entrances can be long during peak season — sometimes over an hour. The good news is that we offer VIP “front of the line” access at key attractions for an additional charge, allowing you to skip the queues entirely and make the most of your time in the park. If you’re interested in this upgrade, please contact us when booking and we’ll arrange it for you.
