Detailed Tour Itinerary:
Pre-Tour – Stay overnight in Yangshuo
Arrive into Yangshuo the day before your tour is scheduled to begin or alternatively, activities/itinerary/day order can be changed to reflect your arrival time. The tour can also commence from Guilin.
Day 1 – Stay overnight in Yangshuo
Meet your tour guide in the morning and begin the day with a visit to Xianggong Hill to see a spectacular bird’s eye view overlooking the Li River. Following the visit to Xianggong Hill, explore the Yulong Valley and Yangshuo on bicycle, riding throughout local villages and beautiful valleys. Visitors can also choose to partake in a Yulong Valley walking tour if preferred.
Afterwards, board your own Private Li River Cruise, travelling along what’s considered to be the most beautiful section of the Li River (Xingping – Nine Horse Fresco Hill back to Xingping) and experience a Cormorant Fisherman Demonstration. At the conclusion of the Cormorant Fisherman Demonstration, return transfer to central Yangshuo and subject to time, enjoy a dinner at one of West Street‘s restaurants (not included in pricing).
This evening, visitors have a special performance – the Impression 3rd Sister Liu Show is a famous show held on the banks of the Li River. With over 700 actors and actresses utilizing the Li River as a stage, this is a must-see during your time in Yangshuo! At the show’s conclusion, you’ll be transferred to your Yangshuo hotel for the rest of the evening at leisure.
Day 2 – Stay overnight in Ping’an Village
Meet your tour guide in the morning and depart to the Longji Rice Terraces, which takes approximately 3 – 3.5 hours from Yangshuo.
Upon arrival, you will walk to the Longji Zhuang Ethnic Minority Village and explore the village with its old architecture and experience life first-hand. For lunch, enjoy a traditional meal in a local family’s house (cooked in a restaurant kitchen). The meal of Bamboo Chicken/Bamboo Rice as well as vegetables is cooked in a licensed restaurant kitchen (to ensure food sanitation & health standards), making this is a very unique experience for visitors.
Following lunch, walk from the Longji Zhuang Village to Ping’an Village along a quieter path offering views overlooking the terraces and usually, very few other people! This walk usually takes between 45 minutes to 1 hour and is on a winding uphill path, although not steep. The trails between the villages are a more scenic route compared to the road transfer option but this can be accommodated too if preferred for the transfer.
After arriving at Ping’an Village, walk to the different scenic lookouts and further explore the Longji Rice Terraces, depending upon your preferences. Enjoy the evening at leisure at your hotel within Ping’an Village.
Day 3 – Stay overnight in Fenghuang
In the morning, meet your guide at the Ping’an Village hotel lobby before travelling up to Wanfo Mountain. Wanfo Mountain is a famous Danxia formation – which looks a little different to the karst scenery in and around Yangshuo. Visitors will hike up to the top of the mountain, which provides surrounding danxia formations as far as the eye can see!
Following the visit to Wanfo Mountain, you’ll be transferred to Fenghuang Old Town. Fenghuang is one of the China’s most famous old towns and is located along the banks of the Tuojiang River. With impressive night views, streets and surrounding architecture, you can easily spend several hours navigating this magnificent old town! Enjoy the evening at leisure in Fenghuang.
Day 4 – Stay overnight in Zhangjiajie City
In the morning, further explore Fenghuang before departing and travelling further north to Aizhai Bridge – the world’s highest tunnel-to-tunnel bridge, located between Fenghuang and Zhangjiajie. The engineering is incredible and Aizhai Bridge is a great stopover. After Aizhai Bridge, visitors will then travel to the small Miao village hamlet of Dehang. Dehang is a quiet village that has only recently opened to tourism but the highlight of the visit here is to an incredible viewpoint.
Afterwards, you’ll be transferred to your Zhangjiajie City Hotel, in preparation for the coming days’ Zhangjiajie exploration! Evening is at leisure in Zhangjiajie.
Day 5 – Stay overnight in Wulingyuan
In the morning, you wll meet your tour guide and driver at your Zhangjiajie City Hotel lobby and be transferred to Tianmen Mountain. Depending upon crowd size/queues, you will either ascend the mountain via the chairlift of alternatively, have a bus take you up to the different stations.
Upon arriving at the peak of Tianmen Mountain, visitors are amazed by the huge arches with stairs running through the middle at Tianmen Cave. The morning is spent exploring and hiking around Tianmen Mountain, which also includes a Glass Walk (in our opinion, more convenient and enjoyable than the other Glass Bridge!).
Following the half-day visit to Tianmen Mountain, you’ll be transferred to Wulingyuan, which is where Zhangjiajie National Park is located. At Zhangjiajie National Park, the afternoon’s activity will be a visit to Ten Mile Gallery – providing a great introduction to what Zhangjiajie has to offer! This will be subject to time, depending upon when you arrive into Zhangjiajie but the tour is flexible.
In the later afternoon, you’ll be transferred back to your Wulingyuan Hotel (which is a more convenient location to explore Zhangjiajie) to enjoy the evening at leisure (or possible with a foot massage after all the walking!).
Day 6 – Stay overnight in Wulingyuan
Begin the day by visiting Tianzi Mountain in Zhangjiajie National Park. Tianzi Mountain is one of the four main scenic spots in Zhangjiajie providing spectacular views overlooking the various peaks and valley.
Following the visit to Tianzi Mountain, travel to the Yuanjiajie Scenic Spot, which is one of the most spectacular areas of Zhangjiajie. It was made famous by the movie Avatar which features this section of the park throughout the movie. You will also take the Bailong Elevator, which is a glass elevator built into the side of a cliff within the Zhangjiajie National Park. In the afternoon, return transfer to your Wulingyuan Hotel for an evening at leisure.
Day 7 – Stay overnight in Wulingyuan/END OF TOUR
Today the activities will depend upon your departure time from Zhangjiajie. However, the plan is to have an early morning start (7:00 am) to visit and hike along Golden Whip Stream, which is a scenic trail winding through Zhangjiajie alongside the River.
Thereafter, visit Yellowstone Village within Zhangjiajie National Park and further explore the park in the afternoon. To conclude the tour, you’ll be transferred to Zhangjiajie Airport, Zhangjiajie Railway Station or back to your Wulingyuan Hotel, depending upon preferences. END OF TOUR.
