What to expect at Xingping
Xingping features the most amazing views of the Li River, such as Reflection of Yellow Cloth, Nine-horse Fresco Hill, etc. Laozhai Mountain in the old town has the stunning sunrise and sunset to admire. You can also appreciate the bird’s eye view of the Li River on the mountain. But the steps on the mountain are steep and slippery, especially on rainy days. It is not recommended that the elder and young children explore the mountain out of security concerns. If you’d like to challenge the mountain, please wear anti-skid hiking shoes and take a flashlight in the very early morning and the very late afternoon!
Some of the old houses in the town are transformed into restaurants, distinctive hotels, handicrafts shops, cafes and local snack stores. Some local restaurants also offer cooked bamboo chicken and bamboo rice which is well-known in Longji Rice Terraces and oil tea. Compared to West Street Yangshuo, Xingping is much quieter, especially at night. You could experience the slow-pace life there through staying overnight for one or two nights there.
You could enjoy the private Li River motorized bamboo rafting at Xingping Pier. One raft can just take 4 passengers. It will take you to explore the most breathtaking views along the Li River between Xingping and Nine-horse Fresco Hills. But the elder above 70 years old (70 years old included) and the children below 1 meter tall (1 meter tall included) are not permitted to take the raft. In addition, if the water level in the river breaches the security line, all the private bamboo rafts will be unavailable. Alternatively, you can just hike or enjoy cycling along the Li River in Xingping.
