Chongqing Tour Reviews

★★★★★ 5.0 · 640+ Reviews · 99.8% Excellence · TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Winner 2026
" ★★★★★ One of Our Most Memorable Trips in China

Wendy Wei Tours organised an amazing journey for our group of 18 travellers to Chengdu, Jiuzhaigou, Chongqing and Zhangjiajie. As seasoned travellers, this was one of the most memorable trips we have had. The team specialises in bespoke tours throughout China, with excellent attention to detail and communication in both Chinese and English. Special thanks to Sherry and Andrew for making our journey so memorable.

" ★★★★★ Dream Trip in China

Wendy and her team are phenomenal! I was nervous about travelling to China because I do not speak the language, but they made it so easy to explore Chongqing. My guide spoke amazing English, all the arrangements were coordinated for me, and I saw everything I wanted to see while also discovering many wonderful new places. From hot pot to Hongyadong, it was all perfect!

" ★★★★★ City and Nature Trip Around China

We booked through Wendy Wei Tours after reading good reviews online, and the reviews were accurate. The team was very accommodating with our itinerary so we could see everything we wanted to. We had private tours in Beijing, Xi'an and Chongqing. All our guides were fantastic, with a special mention for Vivie, who made our time on the Great Wall especially memorable. Highly recommended!

" ★★★★★ Excellent Driver Service in Chongqing

We booked a driver-only service for our quick weekend trip to Chongqing with Wendy, and she was super helpful in putting together a fun itinerary, even without a guide. She was always quick to reply on WeChat and gave us lots of great restaurant and kid-friendly spot suggestions. Our driver, Lele, was very professional and a safe driver, and he knew exactly how to navigate the traffic while keeping us comfortable. It was clear that Wendy genuinely cared about our travel experience. Strongly recommended!

" ★★★★★ Professional, Thoughtful and Truly Memorable Experience

I contacted four tour agencies while planning our journey through Beijing, Shanghai, Guilin, Zhangjiajie and Chongqing, and chose Wendy Wei Tours because their service stood out from the beginning. Wendy was clear, responsive and incredibly thoughtful, creating a highly professional itinerary and providing detailed travel advice that made us feel confident as first-time visitors... All our guides and drivers were outstanding, and we are already planning our second trip with Wendy next year.

Got Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The full tour runs about 8–9 hours from hotel pickup to dropoff, including all travel time and stops. The actual walking and sightseeing is around 6–7 hours, with breaks built in. It's a full day, but not exhausting if you're used to moderate activity.

  • Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are ideal — mild weather, clear skies, and excellent light for photography. Summer (June–August) is hot and humid, so be prepared for the heat and bring summer clothing to stay cool. Winter is cool and often overcast, but it's still a wonderful time to visit Chongqing. The weather can be quite cold and windy in the Wulong area, but despite the chill, it's a great time to visit if you prefer fewer crowds and better hotel prices. Any time works, but plan accordingly. If you come in summer, expect heat and prepare with sunscreen and water.

  • Yes, for most ages. The tour involves moderate walking on flat ground with no steep climbs or technical difficulty. Since this is your private tour, you can discuss your expectations and comfort level with our guide before the tour starts. Let us know in advance if you have mobility concerns, and we can adjust the route and provide necessary support to make sure you have a comfortable experience.

  • We monitor forecasts closely. Light rain doesn't stop the tour — we simply adjust activities and suggest indoor alternatives based on your preferences. Heavy rain might affect views at the Observation Deck or other outdoor areas, but we adapt seamlessly. We can replace outdoor activities with indoor options such as visiting Luohan Temple, the Sanxia Gorge Museum, watching face-changing performances at Huguang Guild Hall, exploring shopping malls like Guanghuan Ring, visiting a local tea house, or experiencing a traditional Chongqing chili pepper foot massage.

  • Completely. The schedule we show is a suggested itinerary based on our customers' feedback and years of guiding experience. Want more time at Hongyadong and skip Jiefangbei? Want to add a specific restaurant? That's fine — this is your private tour. Tell us your priorities when booking and we'll build the day around what you actually want to do.

  • Private transportation, an English-speaking guide, and all entrance fees to attractions. That's it — no hidden costs. If you want optional activities (cable car, photography permits), we'll mention them in advance with costs so you can make the right decision.

  • Contact us for a custom quote. We can usually accommodate larger groups, but it might affect the vehicle type or require splitting into smaller groups. Let us know your group size and we'll work it out.

  • Absolutely. All our Chongqing local guides are fluent English speakers and hold professional English-speaking tour guiding licenses. They are bilingual and can help with restaurant orders, directions, and explanations. We also have guides available who speak Spanish, French, and Italian upon request.

  • Most guests fly into Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport. From there, it's about 40 minutes to the city center by taxi, or you can use the airport shuttle bus. If you're arriving by train (Chongqing North or Chongqing West station), it's 30–40 minutes to the city. We can arrange airport or hotel pickup for an additional cost if you arrange it in advance.

  • Comfortable walking shoes (not flip-flops), sun protection for summer (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen), and a windproof warm jacket for mornings (which can be cool). Bring your fully charged phone or camera for photos. Water will be provided during the tour. For lunch, we'll suggest a variety of local restaurants, or you're welcome to bring your own food if you prefer not to do a sit-down meal.

  • Yes. Tell us when booking and we'll pass this information to your guide and arrange an appropriate lunch venue. We can accommodate vegetarian, halal, vegan, or allergy-friendly meals without any fuss.

  • Easy to moderate. You'll walk on uneven ground and climb some stairs (like in Ciqikou), and you'll need to climb two floors at the 520 Observation Deck. Otherwise, there are no steep climbs or technical challenges. Most people with average fitness do fine. If you're unsure, let us know and we can adjust the itinerary with alternative attractions.

  • That's the whole point of private tours. We're not on a fixed schedule. Want to spend 3 hours at Hongyadong instead of 1? Skip the Observation Deck? Add a specific neighborhood? Just let us know and we'll adjust on the fly.

  • No. Solo travelers, couples, families — all are welcome. The price per person adjusts based on group size (one person pays more per head than a group of 5, which is standard). Everyone is welcome.

  • Yes. You can cancel free of charge up to 7 days before your tour. Within 7 days, we keep your 20% deposit. If you need to reschedule instead of canceling, we can usually find a new date with no hassle — just let us know at least 72 hours in advance. During peak tourism season (July–August, September–October) and China's national holidays, please give us 5–7 days advance notice for rescheduling.
