Detailed Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Guiyang – Kaili – Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village (Overnight in Xijiang)
Your journey begins in Guiyang, capital of Guizhou Province, heading east toward Kaili, the heartland of Miao minority culture. Along the way, visit Shiqiao Miao Village, one of the last places in China where traditional papermaking techniques are still preserved. Here, you will witness the ancient process of handmade paper production using tree bark, a craft passed down through generations and closely linked to local rituals and daily life.

After enjoying a local lunch, continue to the spectacular Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village, the largest Miao village in China, nestled in a lush valley and surrounded by terraced hillsides. Explore the stilted wooden houses, narrow lanes, and observation decks offering panoramic views over the village. As evening falls, the village lights up beautifully, creating a magical atmosphere perfect for photography. Overnight stay inside Xijiang allows you to fully experience the village after day visitors have departed.

Day 2: Guiyang – Wudong Miao Village – Huanggang Dong Village – Zhaoxing Dong Village (Overnight in Zhaoxing)
After lunch at a local restaurant, you’ll be transferred directly to an off-the-beaten track Dong ethnic minority village. one of the most authentic Dong villages in the region. The village is very isolated and poor but everybody is very friendly and welcoming to outside visitors. In support of the local village, we arrange a singing performance as well as tour around the village itself, allowing you to experience something totally different from what Guiyang City and its surroundings has to offer. In here, you will experience a live performance of the renowned Dong Grand Song, a UNESCO-recognized form of polyphonic singing performed without instruments and deeply rooted in Dong culture.


Later, arrive at Zhaoxing Dong Village, the largest Dong village in China, famous for its iconic drum towers and covered wind-and-rain bridges. In the evening, enjoy a leisurely stroll through the village, soaking in the peaceful atmosphere and traditional wooden architecture illuminated at night. Overnight stay in Zhaoxing Dong Village.

Day 3: Zhaoxing – Basha Miao Village – Guiyang (Overnight in Guiyang)
In the morning after checking out from your hotel, you will depart Zhaoxing and travel to Basha Miao Village, often referred to as the “last gunman tribe of China.” The Basha people are known for maintaining ancient customs, including traditional hairstyles, clothing, and wooden architecture. Visit the village to learn about their unique lifestyle and cultural beliefs, offering a rare glimpse into living traditions.
After a simple village-style lunch, transfer to Congjiang Railway Station to board a high-speed train back to Guiyang with 2nd Class seating. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel for a quick freshen up, and later in the evening, walk around Jiaxiu Pavilion and have a quick photo stop at the historic building, which is a symbol of Guiyang set gracefully over the Nanming River. Evening at leisure with dinner at your own expense. Overnight in Guiyang.

Day 4: Guiyang – Huangguoshu Waterfall – Xingyi (Overnight in Xingyi)
Today highlights Guizhou’s most famous natural attraction, the Huangguoshu Waterfalls, the largest waterfall complex in China. These incredible waterfalls have a height of 81 meters and are over 100 meters wide, making the falls Asia’s largest waterfalls. Aside from the falls, the surrounding scenery features various mountains, springs and a cave behind the falls. Explore the scenic area at your own pace, including multiple viewpoints, walking trails, and optional caves that allow you to experience the waterfall from different perspectives. The sheer power and scale of the falls make this one of the most impressive natural sights in Southwest China.
After the visit, continue the journey southwest to Xingyi county, a lesser-known city surrounded by karst landscapes. Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant before checking in to your hotel for the night.

Day 5: Xingyi – Malinghe Canyon – Wanfenglin – Stone Forest Area (Overnight near Shilin)
During the morning, you’ll depart from your Xingyi Hotel and visit the Wanfenglin Scenic Area. In chinese, the direct translation is the ‘Ten Thousand Peak Forest’ and when you arrive, you’ll know why as there are karst formations as far as the eye can see!
Aside from the karst landscape at Wanfenglin, there are surrounding mountains, waterfalls, villages and fields, providing an incredible beautiful scenic area for visitors. You’re welcome to explore the area on foot as there are different trails or choose to take an electric shuttle for an additional fee.

Following the visit to Wanfenglin Scenic Area, you’ll stopover for lunch and thereafter travel to the Malinghe Canyon Scenic Area. As a tributary of the larger Nanpan River, the Maling River runs directly through this spectacular canyon with cliffs on either side of the river. During the afternoon, you’ll explore the Canyon and its surrounding area and visit the Tian Xing Gallery – the most famous scenic spot within the entire park (which is viewed by entering an elevator).
In the late afternoon, you’ll be transferred back to Xingyi for dinner at your own expenses. Your guide will assist you with dinner options, depending upon your preferences and after dinner, the rest of the evening is at leisure.

Day 6 – Stay overnight in Kunming/END OF TOUR
Today, we will commence the tour with a pick-up from your Xingyi Hotel. From Xingyi to the next attraction (Stone Forest), it takes approximately 3 x hours as you travel from Guizhou Province into Yunnan Province. Upon arriving into Shilin, you’ll have lunch and thereafter, visit the Stone Forest.
In 2007, the Shilin Stone Forest Scenic Area was listed as one of Yunnan’s UNESCO world heritage sites. It’s home type a unique type of karst landform and offers spectacular views overlooking the landscape. After the visit, transfer to your Kunming hotel or you can explore Kunming City/choose to watch the Dynamic Yunnan Show during the evening (additional fee) to conclude your tour.
