What is Anshun Dragon Palace?

Lying around 27 kilometers from Anshun City and 30 kilometers from Huangguoshu Waterfall, Anshun Dragon Palace Cave offers the most water caves in China and even around the world. It features the largest temple in the cave as well as the largest waterfall in the cave.

What to expect at Anshun Dragon Palace Cave

Anshun Dragon Palace Cave has a 15-kilometers-long water cave. It is the longest across China. The opened two water caves are the most popular there. Visitors can enjoy the stunning views on the boat in the cave. It’ll be different experience from that you explore the cave on foot.

Called after the natural stalactite with a shape of the Buddha in the main hall, the Avalokitesvara Cave is dotted with 32 artificial statues of Buddha. The cave has an area of more than 2 hectares.

 

Longmen Flying Waterfall is one of the highlights in Dragon Palace Cave as well. It is 50 meters tall and 26 meters wide. The waterfall creates loud sound.


If you explore the area in spring and in autumn, you can enjoy the amazing views with the traditional Chinese character of “龙” (It means dragon in English) when the fields are filled with rape flowers and golden rice.

 

If you have enough time, you can also explore the stone forest at Anshun Dragon Palace Cave Scenic Area. The forest is located at the upper spot of the underground river in the cave.

Best time to visit the Anshun Dragon Palace Cave

If you want to enjoy a quiet environment, the best time to visit is in the morning.

The best months to visit are from April to October.

 

How to get to the Anshun Dragon Palace Cave

You can take a direct bus from Anshun West Bus Station (安顺客车西站) to the cave or just rent a vehicle to the cave from Anshun or Guiyang.

  • Opening hours: 08:30 – 18:00 (March – October); 09:00 – 17:30 (November – February)
  • As at 5th October 2020, the pass ticket for the area (including the entrance ticket and 3-ways shuttle bus) is 150 CNY per person; children between 1.2m tall (1.2m tall included) and 1.4m tall (1.4m tall not included) are charged 85 CNY per person; children under 1.2m tall (1.2m tall not included) are free of charge.
  • The entrance pricing to the one-way lift is 20 CNY per person; the entrance pricing to the round-trip lift is 35 CNY per person.

  • You could just take the uphill lift to the spot where you can take the boat to visit the first cave.
  • If you are planning to visit the cave between May and June and the water level is a little high, you may need to line up long for the boat cruise.
