Day 2 Stay overnight at Tunxi
Optional early morning sunrise at Bright Summit
Continue exploring the front hill area of Yellow Mountain, including highlights such as Black Tiger Pine and Lion Peak (featuring Dawn Pavilion and the Stone Monkey Watching the Sea), among others.
- Take the Yungu Cable car down from the mountain and reunite with your driver at the base
Transfer to the UNESCO-listed Hongcun Village, passing through other ancient Hui-style villages
Stroll through the scenic lanes of Hongcun including bridges and old halls, learning about the village’s ox-shaped water system
- Transfer to Tunxi (Approx. 80mins by car)
- Visit Tunxi Old Street, a famous ancient pedestrian street lined with restored buildings from the Song Dynasty

Detailed Tour Itinerary:
Pre-Tour: Overnight in Huangshan City or Shanghai
Arrive in Huangshan City the day before your tour begins for a smooth start. Alternatively, you can stay overnight in Shanghai and take a morning train to Huangshan the next day. We can assist with Huangshan train ticket bookings for an additional fee – No Service for this day.
Day 1 – Overnight on Yellow Mountain
In the morning, your private guide and driver will meet you at your hotel, Huangshan North Railway Station, or your Huangshan hotel lobby. From there, you’ll enjoy a scenic transfer to the Huangshan Mountain Scenic Area, one of China’s most beautiful and iconic landscapes. The drive takes around an hour, offering views of the lush, mountainous surroundings.
Upon arrival, take a cable car up to the back of the mountain, saving time and energy for your hike. Huangshan Mountain is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, renowned for its dramatic peaks, ancient pines, and “sea of clouds.” Once on the mountain, your hike will begin with sights such as Beginning-to-Believe Peak, the West Sea Grand Canyon (1st Ring), and Dispelling Cloud Pavilion. The hiking route can be adjusted depending on your fitness level, allowing you to enjoy the breathtaking panoramas at a comfortable pace. We have not included the cable car ride from the bottom of West Sea Grand Canyon back to the top of the mountain as not everyone will hike all the way down to the bottom of the hill but if you decided to go all the way to the bottom of West Sea Grand Canyon, please kindly cover this costs yourself.
You will spend the night on the summit at Xihai Hotel (Area A) or a similar-standard hotel, depending on availability at the time of your booking. Room upgrades are available at an additional cost if desired.

Day 2 – Stay overnight in Hongcun
For early risers, the day begins with an optional sunrise hike to Bright Summit Peak (weather permitting). Watching the sunrise over Huangshan’s famous sea of clouds is a truly magical experience and a highlight for many visitors. After the hike, return to your hotel for breakfast.
Following breakfast, continue your adventure with a hike to the front hill of Yellow Mountain, visiting iconic sights such as Black Tiger Pine and Lion Peak, which features the Dawn Pavilion and the Stone Monkey Watching the Sea. This area is renowned for its unique rock formations and is home to some of the most photographed trees in China.
After your morning hike, return to your hotel to collect your luggage. You’ll then take the Yungu Cable Car down from Yellow Mountain to meet your driver at the car park. A short drive will bring you to a local restaurant for lunch (included).
Once refreshed, enjoy a private transfer to Hongcun Village, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its well-preserved ancient architecture. Along the way, you will pass several traditional Hui-style villages, recognizable by their whitewashed walls and black-tiled roofs.
Upon arrival at Hongcun, take time to stroll through its winding lanes, admire idyllic bridges and lakeside views, and explore the ox-shaped water system, ingeniously designed for both irrigation and fire prevention.
In the late afternoon, we will drive approximately 80 minutes to Huangshan for your overnight stay. You will visit Tunxi Ancient Street, the historic heart of Huangshan City. This charming pedestrian street is lined with traditional Anhui-style buildings, featuring whitewashed walls, grey tiles, and intricate wooden carvings. Tunxi Ancient Street is also a bustling hub for local culture and cuisine, where you can browse shops selling traditional crafts, tea, silk, and souvenirs. Don’t miss sampling the local snacks, such as Huangshan stinky tofu, fried dough sticks, steamed buns, and mooncakes, which are beloved by both visitors and locals alike.
We aim to book your stay at Crowne Plaza Huangshan Yucheng in a superior room. If this is unavailable at the time of booking, we will arrange a similar-level hotel or offer an upgrade to a better hotel or room at an additional cost, according to your preference.
Day 3 – END OF TOUR
After breakfast at your lakeside resort, your lovely driver will transfer you either to Huangshan North Railway Station for your train back to Shanghai or to your hotel in Huangshan if you choose to extend your stay in the area. This concludes your Huangshan and Hongcun tour.
