What is Zhangjiajie?
With its sub-tropical climate and breathtaking scenic views Zhangjiajie is an ideal destination to visit. Situated on the North Western border of Hunan province, Zhangjiajie has 4 major zones named Yongding District, Wuling District, Cili County and Sangzhi county all distributed in an area of 9516 square kilometres. This is the natural heritage site known around the world and accredited by UNESCO in its list of world heritage sites.
Zhangjiajie is covered in greenery and has a varied terrain to it. It starts from the amazing formations of Karst Mountains, lush green lands; Forest covered areas, thick trees all around and eye warming wildlife where animals, birds, nature and man live in harmony.
Zhangjiajie is also known as the original picture on mountain and river of China. There are 3 main tribes living in this area namely; Tujia, Bai and Miao with small numbers of 29 minorities living in this area peacefully. The transportation system in Zhangjiajie is very simple as it is well connected with roads in its major areas and can be approached in cars, buses, trains and via air. The entire area is a mix of customs and traditions prevailing in Zhangjiajie where everyone believes in their own customs and follows them throughout the year.
One of the major attractions is a ride on Maoyan River, which is a part of the Li River. People can choose to ride for hours while they are mesmerised by their natural surroundings, clicking pictures and watching the birds from all over the world migrating and locals as well. The 25 kilometre ride is a guaranteed relaxation method. Zhangjiajie is one of the main contributors to oxygen in China as the dense forest; trees and landscape provide enough nature for the protection of humanity in this part of the world.
