What to expect at YaoshanNamed after the Yao Emperor Temple hundreds of years ago, Yaoshan was originally one island in the sea according to the historical facts. Take a chairlift to the top of the mountain, and you’ll be impressed by the natual reclining Buddha formed by the rolling karst hills in the distance. At the foot of the mountain is the best-preserved princes tombs in the Ming Dynasty across China, Jingjiang Prince Tombs.
Yaoshan is endowed with gorgeous views around the year. In spring, pink azaleas decorate the mountain with their own attraction. In summer, plants on the mountain put more green and vitality to it. In late autumn, red maples and wild chrysanthemum across the mountain make for a picturesque view. In winter, especially between late December and middle January, Yaoshan is well known for the transparent rime on the trees, which always attract tourists and locals. If you are keen on hiking, you could climb up to the top of the mountain through the trail. It is suggested that you ask locals how to get to the trail. The second section of the trail is a little steep to hike up. Generally speaking, it takes some 60 minutes hike to the top. |
