What are the UNESCO sites in Yangshuo?
Yangshuo is dotted with tens of World Natural Heritage Site. Many of them are located along the Li River and please see details of the Yangshuo UNESCO sites as outlined below.

Yangshuo UNESCO Sites

  • Yangshuo Karst (as part of South China Karst)

On 23rd June 2014, Yangshuo Karst as part of the South China Karst was listed in the list of UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. It includes peak clusters in Putao Village and several villages in Yangshuo Countryside, and tens of hills along the Li River, including Xialong Scenery, Snail Hill at the western bank of the river, 2.5 kilometers west of Xingping Old Town, Nine-horse Fresco Hil, Yellow Cloth Reflection, Langshi Village with karst hills and old buildings, Yangdi, Wangfu Rock, Ox Karst Valley with tens of karst hills offering stalactites on the walls, Longtou Hill and much more.

Cuiping Hill well-known for its stunning sunset is situated in Putao Village where peak clusters are located in. The cluster is located some 27 kilometers from West Street. On the top of Cuiping Hill, you will see tens and even hundreds of karst hills around. There are several undeveloped karst caves along the Li River in the Yangshuo Countryside. The Li River winds from Guilin to Yangshuo for nearly 85 kilometers. Lijiang River Scenic Zone is also part of World Natural Heritage Site in Yangshuo. If you would like to enjoy the karst landforms from Guilin to Yangshuo, it is recommended that you take a big cruise boat. You also could hike along the river to explore the karst landscape.

  • Lijiang River Scenic Zone

The Lijiang River Scenic Zone in Yangshuo is mainly located in the southwestern part of the Lijiang River Basin in Guilin City, and a small part is located at the junction of the Lingqu Canal and Xiangjiang Rivers at the northern end of the Lijiang River Basin.

The zone is the largest and most concentrated area of karst landforms in the Lijiang River Basin. The karst there is the representative of Guilin Karst. It consists of a random combination of hills in different shapes, clear waters, green fields, caves and strange rocks.
