Xingping Rural Market is crowded from 08:00 to 13:00 with vendors and shoppers. Locals take fresh vegetables, local fruits in season, tea and the dried herbs to the market. Some of the elder vendors employ the traditional balance to weigh the items. Some of them put the vegetables or fruits in the bamboo basket and carry to the market for sale. You may find the unknown wild vegetables there.
You can try local rice tofu with pickled cowpea, and other ingredients to make it more tasty. Hot and Sour Rice Noodles, and Guilin Rice Noodles are also popular among tourists and locals. Local traditional farming tools are always on sale. Sometimes, local old people take the traditional hookahs to the market. Sometimes, local old people play traditional musical instruments at the market as well to enjoy themselves, such as small wooden drum and erhu.
Local elder barbers always gather on one street. They just use a knife, a comb, and a chair to do business. You’ll find half of the vendors, especially those who put items in a small bag at the market are above 45 years old.
