What is Tang An Dong Village?
Situated some 7 kilometers southeast of Zhaoxing Dong Village, Tang An Dong Village is a paradise for photographing and hiking lovers. Surrounded by mountains in 3 directions, the village is home to Dong people for 700 years.
Due to the inconvenient transportation, the village is an off-the-beaten-track spot where visitors can experience much simpler and more authentic local life than Zhaoxing Dong Village.

What to expect at Tang An Dong Village

The wind and rain bridge is a spot where girls and boys enjoy themselves. Walking at the village, you will see locals doing their daily work, such as washing vegetables, doing washing, working at the rice terraces, making local costumes with an old-fashioned treadle sewing machine and so on. However, most of the elder villagers couldn’t speak Mandarin. They just speak Dong language.
If you enjoy hiking, it is recommended that you hike to the village from Zhaoxing Dong Village. It always takes 2-hours hike to the village from Zhaoxing Dong Village. Along the way, you will be amazed by the breathtaking views. In spring, the rice terraces are filled with water; in summer, green seedling grows well at the terraces; in autumn, the rice terraces are decorated with golden rice.
If you are planning to visit Tang An Dong Village for photography purposes, the best time to visit is during the sunrise and the sunset.
The best months to visit are from April to October.
There is no direct bus to the village from Congjiang County. The only option is to rent a vehicle.

- As at 5th October 2020, the entrance pricing to the village is free of charge.
- If your body conditions are good enough for hiking, it is advised that you hike from Zhaoxing Dong Village to Tang An Dong Villager after exploring Zhaoxing Village.
- The hiking route from Zhaoxing Village to Tang An Village is not for the elders.
- Please take care of you on rainy days there in case that the stone stairs are slippery.
