Simian Mountain – preserved mountain area near Chongqing

With an area of 213.37 square kilometers, Simian Mountain is rich in natural sightseeing resource. Featuring the breathtaking natural views, the mountain is located around 140 kilometers south of Chongqing City. It is a great summer resort in Chongqing Region.

Air in the Shenlong Gorge is very fresh due to the environment. In summer, the average temperature there is 24 centigrade degree.
The Shenlong Gorge offers several cliffs with different appearances and several underground waterfalls in the cave. Drifting along the gorge is also amazing. With a length of around 3 kilometers, the drifting starts from Qingyun Gorge and finishes at Youxia Gorge. Along the drifting, you also can appreciate the breathtaking natural views on either side in summer. In addition, you could enjoy BBQ at a specific spot. Or, you could enjoy camping in the gorge.
The best time to visit Simian Mountain is in the morning.
The best months to visit are from May to October.
Unfortunately, there is no direct bus to the mountain from Chongqing City. Thus, the only option is to rent a vehicle.

- As at 23rd October 2020, the entrance pricing to the mountain is 90 CNY per person; children under 1.2m tall (1.2m tall not included) are free of charge; the elder above 65 years old (65 years old included) are free of charge; children between 1.2m tall (1.2m tall not included) and 1.4m tall (1.4m tall included) are charged 45 CNY per person; the elder between 60 years old (60 years old included) and 65 years old (65 years old not included) are charged 45 CNY per person. - The entrance ticket is valid for 24 hours. But it is required to register when you walk out of the area for the first time, or you’d need to buy a second ticket when you enter the area for the second time.
- If you want to enjoy meals and stay overnight in the area, you’d need to pay for an extra cost.
- The entrance to the shuttle bus is not included in the entrance ticket for the area.
