What is Shangri-La Park?
Located near Guilin-Yangshuo Highway, Shangri La Park is composed of Lotus Pond, Swallow Lake, Swallow Cave, the area of Dong People’s folk customs and the Primitive Tribe. It offers stunning karst landscape and the customs of ethnic minorities. In addition, the sunset there is breathtaking as well.

What to expect at Shangri-La Park?

Firstly, you’ll take a boat on the Swallow Lake to appreciate the scenery and explore the Swallow Cave. After the cave visit, you’ll see the local cormorant fishing show if you’re lucky enough. At the buildings by the lake, girls in colorful ethnic minority costumes sing and dance to welcome the tourists. The boat cruise lasts for some 20 minutes. A Chinese-speaking tour guide on the boat will interpret the scenic spots along the cruise.
After that, you’ll disembark and visit the other parts of the park via foot. There are impressive ethnic buildings, and the exciting shows in the section, such as Tianqin Show of the Black Zhuang People (Tianqin is a musical instrument of the people), Dong Choir, etc. In the ethnic buildings, you’ll be get acquainted with the embroidery of the Miao People, the traditional paper-making process, inscription rubbing, and the like. The park also has the exquisite ethnic handicrafts to get, including Zhuang’s silk balls, and Zhuang brocade. If interested, you can join the Ball Throwing Activity, and experience the traditional paper-making.
Best time to visit Shangri-La Park
It is suggested that you visit the park in the morning as it is always crowded from 11:00 on.
If you’d like to visit it for photography purposes, the best time to visit is at sunset.
The best months to visit are from March to October.

- Opening hours: 08:00 – 17:30 (March – August); 08:30 – 16:30 (September – February). Please note, it is closed from 15:00 on Chinese New Year’s Eve.
- As at 4th October 2020, the entrance pricing to the park (including the boat cruise and ethnic shows) is 60 CNY per person; children between 1.2m tall (1.2m tall included) and 1.4m tall (1.4m tall not included) are charged 30 CNY per person; the elder between 60 years old (60 years old included) and 65 years old (65 years old not included) are charged 30 CNY per person; children under 1.2m tall (1.2m tall not included) and the elder above 65 years old (65 years old included) are free of charge. - Please try to avoid visiting it during the public holidays in China as it is possible for you to line up for the boat cruise for nearly 2 hours.
