What to expect at Ludi Yan
Long before, a plant grew close to the entrance of the cave. The plant was made into the reed flute, the name of ludi in English. Then, the cave is called Ludi Yan. Seventy pieces of frescoes from the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907) to the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1912) add more cultural elements to the cave, which also reflects the cave has been popular from the ancient times on.
Ludu Yan is dotted with amazing stalactites and stalagmites. You’ll find the lion-shaped one, curtains, the crystal palace, towers, pillars, etc. Some of the stalagmites are hollow. When being hit, they may give out beautiful sounds.
The crystal palace is one of the highlights in the cave. The widest point in the palace is 93 meters wide. In the palace, the light show is regularly put on. The show tells a beautiful story about the cave. Another show on the roof of the palace presents how the cave was created.
Tourists are always asked to line up at the entrance to the cave before the number of the tourists is big enough for the Chinese tour guide to offer the interpretation service. If you understand Chinese, the service enriches the visit to the cave more interesting.
