The Chaotianmen Dock is the spot where tourists take the Yangtze River and Jialing River Day and Night Cruises in Chongqing. The dock is locate at the confluence of the two rivers. At early summer and mid-autumn, the isabelline water in the Yangtze River and aquamarine water in the Jialing River meet at the dock, creating an stunning picture.

Originally built in the Warring States Period (475 BC – 221 BC), Chaotianmen Dock is the dock where the Yangtze River and Jialing River Day and Night Cruises ships berth in Chongqing. Standing at the dock, you will see old buildings with hanging feet in Chongqing style along the rivers.
Chaotianmen Dock is the oldest natural slope dock in Chongqing. You can just explore the night views along the rivers with your feet. Alternatively, you can enjoy the Yangtze River and Jialing River Day or Night Cruises on the rivers as well.
The best time to visit Chaotianmen Dock is at night.
The best months to visit are from May to September.
There are a few buses to Chaotianmen Dock from Chongqing City. Thus, there are several options.
- Rent a vehicle to the dock from Chongqing City. This is the quickest and most direct option.
- Take the Bused of Night View No. T086 (t086路夜景线), Chaotianmen to Yangren Road Ferry (朝天门至洋人街轮渡) or Line No. 1 of Sightseeing Ferry (观光轮渡1号线) to the dock.
- Opening hours: 24 hours
- As at 23rd October 2020, tourists can visit the dock for free.
- If you are planning to visit the dock in the daytime, it is suggested that you bring an umbrella and sunglasses with you.
- Please take enough drinking water and food with you.
