Begin your journey through southern China the moment you step off the high-speed train from Hong Kong — arriving into Guilin, one of China’s most iconic and timeless destinations. Over four beautifully paced days, this fully private tour takes you through ancient ethnic minority villages perched above terraced hillsides, along the legendary Li River flanked by towering karst peaks, and into the lush countryside of Yangshuo — before returning you seamlessly to Hong Kong.
This is not a group tour. There are no fixed buses, no rushed schedules, and no compromise. Your personal licensed guide and private vehicle are yours for the entire journey — adapting every day to your pace, interests, and preferences. No forced shopping stops. No hidden costs. No mandatory tipping.
Guilin’s landscape — sweeping limestone karst mountains, jade-green rivers, and terraced hillsides carved over six centuries — has inspired Chinese artists and poets for over a thousand years. Seeing it privately, at your own pace, makes all the difference.
Direct high-speed train from Hong Kong West Kowloon Station to Guilin West — approximately 3 hours. Direct flights are also available (approx. 1.5 hrs). Arrive in Guilin & Discover the City
Make your own way from Hong Kong to Guilin via the direct high-speed train from West Kowloon Station — a smooth, scenic 3-hour journey through the mountains of southern China. Your private guide will be waiting at Guilin West Station to welcome you and kick off your tour.
Step inside one of China's most spectacular natural wonders. Reed Flute Cave is a 240-metre limestone cavern formed over 180 million years, filled with extraordinary stalactites, stalagmites, and underground pools lit by natural soft light. Your guide will bring the cave's geology and history to life as you explore this extraordinary underground world.
Hop aboard a comfortable golf cart for a leisurely ride through the beautifully landscaped Guihai Qinglan Scenic Park, set against a backdrop of karst peaks. A wonderfully relaxed way to take in the scenery and ease into the pace of Guilin.
Stroll through Guilin's most lively pedestrian street — lined with local food stalls, shops, and street performers. Pick up a snack, browse the local goods, and soak up the city's atmosphere before the evening begins.
As dusk settles, Guilin comes alive. Walk along the city's famous lakes and watch the iconic twin Sun and Moon Pagodas light up the water with their golden reflections. Continue to Elephant Trunk Hill — Guilin's most beloved landmark — beautifully illuminated against the night sky where the ancient rock formation meets the Li River. One of the most memorable evenings you'll have in China.
Your driver will transfer you to your hotel for the night. The remainder of the evening is at your leisure.

Dragon's Backbone — Longji Rice Terraces Day Tour
Meet your guide at your hotel lobby and set off on a comfortable 1.5-hour drive north through green valleys toward the famous Longji Rice Terraces. Your guide will share the fascinating story of the Zhuang and Yao peoples who have farmed these mountainsides for over 650 years.
Arrive at the Ancient Zhuang Village — a living, breathing community set amid the terraced hillsides. Explore the centuries-old timber-frame architecture, meet local families going about their daily lives, and experience a culture that has remained largely unchanged for generations. Your guide will introduce the traditions, customs, and way of life of the Zhuang people.
Sit down for the most celebrated meal of the Longji mountains: Bamboo Chicken. Marinated chicken and glutinous rice are sealed inside a hollowed bamboo tube and slow-roasted over an open fire. The result is tender, fragrant, and unlike anything you'll find anywhere else. An absolute must-try and a genuine taste of this mountain region.
After lunch, take a scenic trail hike directly through the heart of the rice terraces from Ancient Zhuang Village up to Ping'an Village. The trail winds through paddies, bamboo groves, and past small farmsteads, with mountain views opening up beautifully with every step.
Explore the famous Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces from Ping'an, stopping at multiple elevated viewpoints across the cascading hillsides. The terraces sweep across an elevation of 300 to 1,100 metres in great flowing curves from valley floor to mountain ridge — resembling, as their name suggests, the scales along a dragon's spine. Late April is one of the most beautiful times to visit, when the flooded paddies reflect the sky like thousands of mirrors.
A relaxed 1.5-hour drive back to Guilin City. The evening is entirely at your leisure — your guide can recommend local restaurants for dinner based on your preferences.

Li River Cruise, Yangshuo & Impression Liu Sanjie
Meet your guide at your hotel lobby for an early departure to the Guilin cruise pier, arriving comfortably ahead of boarding time.
Board your 4-star cruise vessel and settle into your reserved upper deck seat as the boat glides downstream along one of the world's most celebrated river journeys. For 3.5 to 4 hours, towering karst peaks rise on every side, ancient fishing villages dot the banks, water buffalo wade in the shallows, and the mountains reflect perfectly in the jade-green water below. A buffet lunch is served on board as the scenery unfolds around you.
Disembark at Yangshuo and step straight into the town's famous West Street — a charming riverside strip lined with cafes, boutiques, and local eateries. Browse at your own pace, grab a coffee, and soak in the relaxed atmosphere of this beloved little town surrounded by karst peaks on all sides.
Climb Xianggong Hill for a bird's-eye perspective of the Li River valley that is simply breathtaking — a sweeping view of the river snaking between karst peaks, with rice paddies and bamboo groves stretching across the valley floor below. One of the best viewpoints in the entire Guilin region.
Enjoy dinner at your leisure in Yangshuo — West Street and the surrounding lanes are packed with excellent options, from Guilin rice noodle shops to local Cantonese restaurants and international cafes. Your guide is happy to point you toward the best spots based on your taste.
Witness one of the most extraordinary live performances in the world. Impression Third Sister Liu was created by Zhang Yimou — director of the 2008 Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremony — and staged exclusively on the Li River itself. Over 700 performers move across the water on bamboo rafts, with the karst mountain silhouettes as the backdrop and original folk music carrying across the river in the evening air. An experience you will never forget.
Private transfer to your Yangshuo hotel at the conclusion of the show. The remainder of the evening is at your leisure.

Yulong River & Departure
Begin your final morning with a peaceful drift down the Yulong River aboard a traditional bamboo raft. The Yulong is quieter and more intimate than the Li River — winding through open farmland, beneath ancient stone arched bridges, and past bamboo groves, with karst peaks rising on every horizon. There's no better way to savour the Yangshuo countryside before heading onward. A genuinely serene and beautiful experience.
After the river drift, your private driver will transfer you directly to Guilin West Train Station or Guilin Airport — whichever suits your onward journey. Your guide will see you off and assist with any last-minute questions. We arrange transfers to both, or to any other destination you're heading to next.
Your 4-Day Guilin Private Tour is now complete. Whether you're catching a flight, taking a train, or heading somewhere else entirely, we hope it was everything you imagined. We'd love to welcome you back to Guilin again soon.

Best Time to Visit Guilin
Late April and May offer lush green rice terraces, comfortable temperatures, and excellent river levels for the Li River cruise. September to November is equally beautiful — the terraces turn gold before the autumn harvest, and crowds are thinner. Summer (June–August) can be hot and wet, but also dramatic. We’re happy to advise on the best timing for your specific trip.
Getting from Hong Kong to Guilin
The easiest and most scenic option is the direct high-speed train from Hong Kong West Kowloon Station to Guilin West Station — a comfortable 3-hour journey through the mountains of Guangdong. Direct flights from Hong Kong to Guilin Airport are also available (approximately 1.5 hours). We can arrange train tickets as part of your package.
Guilin vs Guangzhou — Why Guilin?
While Guangzhou is a world-class business city, Guilin offers something entirely different — a natural landscape that’s been celebrated in Chinese art and literature for over a thousand years. The combination of karst mountains, river cruises, rice terrace villages, and minority culture makes Guilin one of the most rewarding destinations in all of China for those who want to go beyond the city.
