In June, Wulingyuan Scenic Area will be a little more crowded compared to that in May. The area is composed of Suoxiyu Nature Reserve, Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, and Tianzi Mountain Nature Reserve. Let’s see what we can admire in the areas respectively.
With more than 3,000 quartz sandstone peaks, Zhangjiajie National Forest Park has the Golden Whip Stream, Yuanjiajie, and Yangjiajie to experience the natural beauty. Forest coverage rate in the park is 98%. It is acclaimed as “a Natural Museum and Botanical Gardens”.

If you would like to appreciate the beauty of the Golden Whip Stream, you could only hike along it. It takes around 2 hours to explore the 5.7-kilometers-long stream. Yuanjiajie, one of shooting locations of Avatar and Tianbo Mansion are also worth visiting.
Tianzi Mountain Nature Reserve is famous for a cloud sea after the rain in June. Clouds float around the mountain. You may feel that you are in a paradise on the top of the mountain. The road on the top of the mountain will take you to Yuanjiajie. Tianzi Mountain features Laowuchang, Chapanta, and Mandarin Duck Stream to discover.

The existing longest and highest glass bridge spans over Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon. On the bridge, your adrenaline may rise to a high level. Walk along the plank road at the bottom of the canyon, and you will be amazed at a variety of rare plantation and wild animals.
When walking at the bottom, you could see tens of waterfalls. The Thin Strip of Sky is very steep. It is a little challenging to walk along the road by the cliff as well.
Baofeng Lake offers amazing natural spots, an old temple and local culture to appreciate. Cruising on the lake is a must-experience. When you are on the boat, you may feel that you are cruising in a picture as the lake is surrounded by green mountains in June.
Tujia people always sing and dance to show part of Tujia culture. After the cruise, you could hike through the forest if interested.
Just like the Reed Flute Cave in Guilin, Huanglong Cave is very famous in Zhangjiajie. The cave features typical karst landform. The Longwu Hall, Xiangshui River, Dragon Palace Hall, Maze Hall and several other spots in the cave are open to the public.
You will admire the charm of the cave on Xiangshui River and view stalagmites, stone pillars, stone waterfalls, stone curtains, stone tubes, stone corals and stone pearls in the cave. It takes 2 hours at least to explore the entire cave.
Furong Old Town is popular around China for a movie called Furongzhen (芙蓉镇). In May, it is a little crowded in the town as there are a little more Chinese domestic tourists there. If you would like to stay overnight there, it is suggested that you book the hotel several days in advance.
You will experience the authentic Tujia custom and enjoy local food in the town. A waterfall runs through the town. You could just admire it in the distance or you also could appreciate it in the cave behind it.
Tianmen Mountain has a mountain road with 99 turns to experience. If you explore the mountain, you could choose to take a shuttle bus to the top of the mountain and take a cable car from the top to the foot of the mountain or take a cable car to the top and take the shuttle bus downhill.
The cableway is 7,455 meters long. A glass plank road is hung between two cliffs. If you are planning to discover the mountain, it is required that you book the tickets in advance.
