In May, karst hills along the Li River are becoming greener and greener. More and more locals do some washing along the river. If you would like to admire the natural beauty on the way from Guilin to Yangshuo, the big cruise boats are an option.


The cruise lasts for around 4 hours. If you want more privacy, you could take a private motorized raft from Xingping to Nine-horse Fresco Hill and back to Xingping. The section features the most amazing highlights on the river as well.

  2. Yulong River & Yulong Valley

Yulong River Valley is a must-visit spot in Yangshuo in May. Through watering of the rain in March and April, hills, fruit trees and other plants in the area are becoming more dynamic. Some fruit trees are bearing small fruits.


Verdant rice seedlings in the field show their desire for growing up. You could enjoy bamboo rafting, cycling or hiking to explore the valley.

Yulong River

Cuiping Hill is well-known for its breathtaking sunset. Plots of farmland at the foot of the hill and karst hills in the distance make for great photography materials as well. To a large extent, wisps of smoke rise continuously from the village chimneys during the sunset, which adds more charm to the views. Compared to the stone steps on the Xianggong Hill, the road on the Cuiping Hill is more difficult to walk on.

Laozhai Mountain

Standing in the Putao Town area, Cuiping Hill features gorgeous sunset. From the hill, you will find fields at the foot are dotted with several modern buildings which offer the area more vitality. The Tortoise River winds through the fields to the distance. During the sunset, fields, hills, green rice seedlings and other green plants are covered with a layer of golden sunshine.


8. Silver Cave
Lying around 27 kilometers from the West Street in Yangshuo, Silver Cave has different shapes of stalactites to enjoy, such as stone curtain, stalagmites, stone waterfalls, stone towers and the like. The cave penetrates 12 hills. It offers a length of 2,000 meters to visit. As lots of Chinese domestic visitors love to explore the cave, it is recommended that you visit the cave in the morning.
