1. Li River Cruise

The Li River Cruise always has amazing views around the year. Thus, no matter what month you are planning to discover the river, you won’t be disappointed.
  • Big boats operating daily
As it is very cold in January, it is recommended that you take the big and air-conditioned cruise boat to admire the natural beauty along the Li River. If it rains on the day you enjoy the cruise, you will feel much colder outside. The big boat option is also good for those who would like to appreciate the views from Guilin to Yangshuo en-route. It departs from Guilin pier to Yangshuo pier in the morning. People of all ages can take the big boat cruise.

3. Impression 3rd Sister Liu Show

The Impression 3rd Sister Liu Show is a must-enjoy in Yangshuo. You will immerse yourself in the great performance of local villagers. The nearly 2-kilometers-long stage on the Li River, 12 karst hills standing in the Li River plus the large red ribbons used by the actors to cross the river on the bamboo raft is a feast for your eyes.

​You could enjoy the folk songs sung by locals in the costumes of Zhuang minority. The show is also great for photographing. The show is always closed for one month prior to Chinese New Year. 

4. Chinese Calligraphy Class

If you don’t like outdoor activities in Januay, you could experience Chinese calligraphy class on West Street. Chinese calligraphy features a few schools, including regular script, cursive script, running script, and clerical script. 5. Yangshuo Cooking Class

If it rains during your stay in Yangshuo in January and you are interested to learn how to cook local food, there are several Yangshuo Cooking Schools in Yangshuo city to choose from. Generally speaking, they will pick you up from your hotel in Yangshuo and take you to a local market. The chef will instruct you how to pick fresh ingredients needed in the cooking class. Back to the cooking school, he will show you the cooking procedure. You could taste the food you yourself cook with other participants. Most of the schools offer private classes and small group classes.

6. Silver Cave

Penetrating 12 hills, the Silver Cave is more popular among Chinese domestic tourists than foreign tourists. The cave is decorated with crystal-clear stalactites in different shapes. They will be more beautiful in the colorful lights.

If you’d like to visit it, it is suggested that you get to the cave by 10:00 am in the morning as there are fewer tourists at that time.
