Yadan National Geopark - geologically developed Yadan landforms

Located 180 kilometers from Dunhuang, Yadan National GeoPark is also called Yadan Devil City. It is situated 100 kilometers southeast of Yumen Pass. At the park, you will be shocked at the unique scenery of the desert and different geological wonders.

Yadan National GeoPark is located at the border of Xinjiang and Gansu. It features a variety of geological relics with 77 geological relics, including geomorphological landscapes, geological structures, water landscapes, and geological vestige landscapes, tectonic traces, fluvial geomorphologic landscape, wind geomorphologic landscape, desert landscapes, lakes and marshes, the relic landscapes of geological disaster, etc.
At the park, you will find many geological sculptures, such as turtles go to the sea, black sea and the lonesome boat (wind-eroded tower), image of Beethoven (wind-eroded tower), sea lion (wind-eroded tower), head of the dinosaur (wind-eroded pillar), peacock (wind-eroded pillar), penguin (wind-eroded pillar), dragon city (Yadan landform combination), the train comes into the train station (wind-eroded ridge), castles, streets and the like.
The best time to visit Yadan National GeoPark is in the morning during the opening hours.
The best months to visit are from May to October.
There is only one direct bus from Dunhuang Hotel (敦煌饭店) to the Yadan National GeoPark. Therefore, there are only a few options.
- Rent a vehicle to the park. This is the quickest and most direct option.
- Take a direct bus from Dunhuang Hotel
- Opening hours: 06:30 – 22:00 (the tickets are not issued from 19:30)
- As at 17th October 2020, the entrance pricing to the park (including the entrance ticket and shuttle bus) is 120 CNY per person; the elder between 60 years old (60 years old not included) and 70 years old (70 years old not included) are charged 95 CNY per person; children under 1.2m tall (1.2m tall not included) are free of charge; the elder above 70 years old (70 years old included) are free of charge; the entrance pricing to the park (only the entrance ticket) is 50 CNY per person.
