Xishuangbanna Wild Elephant Valley Tropical Rain Forest Scenic Area is home to wild Asian elephants, buffaloes, green peacocks, macaques and other protected animals.

There are about hundreds of wild elephants in the scenic area. On average 4.4 days, a group of wild elephants will walk, bath, and play in the forest. If you are lucky enough, you may encounter wild elephants when you explore the forest on foot or walk along high-altitude path. The path is closed at 16:00 pm. The best time to watch wild elephants is in the evening, at night and in the early morning.

You could also take a cable car through the rainforest and see the wild animals enjoying themselves in the woods. At the only elephant school, you will get a little acquainted with the life habit of the Asian elephants, keep close to them and do some interesting activities with them. They have been trained to be able to do some drawing, and shake long rope. There are several bars in the big trees. It is refreshing to relax yourself with a cup of coffee or other drinks in a tree.

At the rainforest theater, you could appreciate the unique local shows performed by Dai, Hani or Yi people. The area offers a flowers garden and a butterflies garden to explore as well. You could taste the buffet meal in the buffet restaurant by 15:00 pm.
