What is Tianfu Square?
Located in the heart of Chengdu, Tianfu Square has been playing a significant role in Chengdu since it was built 1951. It connects Renmin South Road, the Renmin West Road, the Renmin Middle Road and Renmin East Road.

What to expect at Tianfu Square
Tianfu Square is near the Imperial City in ancient Chengdu. It is popular among locals. Considerable locals like to refresh themselves at the square. The square is a Tai Chi diagram with two eyes in the two halves. Visitors can admire the statue of Mao Zedong in the north of the square. The statue is 30 meters tall. The square is a transportation hub for Chengdu as well. Plenty of buses and metros stops and pass by it.
If interested, visitors can explore the underground shopping malls. Cultural totem poles stand on the square. Each is 12 meters high and 1.2 meters in diameter. If interested, visitors can visit Chengdu Museum, the Sichuan Science and Technology Museum and the Jincheng Art Palace(锦城艺术宫) where many local cultural shows make their debut. |
Best time to visit Tianfu Square
The best time to visit Tianfu Square is in the morning or in the evening. The best months to visit is from March to May and from September to November as these months are not so cold or so hot.
How to get to Tianfu Square
Tianfu Square is located at the center of Chengdu. Therefore, there are several options.
- Rent a vehicle to the square. This is the quickest and most direct option.
- Take Bus 16, Bus 45, Bus 53, Bus 61 and Bus 64 to the square.
- Take the Airport Shuttle Bus Line 2(机场专线2号线) to the square from the airport.
- Take Metro Line 1 and Line 2 to the square.
