Chengdu Panda Research Base
Chengdu Panda Research Base is home to more than 100 giant pandas, lesser pandas and black swans. In April, these cute animals are active by 12 pm as it could be a little hot in the afternoon. When they feel hot, they are unwilling to move. You could even see panda cubs sucking milk from the feeding-bottle.

Luodai Ancient Town
Located around 30 kilometers from Chengdu, Luodai Ancient Town is home to more than 20,000 Hakkas. In the town, the old Hakka houses are well-preserved. You could explore the old buildings, try Hakka food and visit the Hakka Earth Building Museum. The town also features New Year paintings, clay sculptures,and traditional bamboo weaving to explore.

Qingcheng Mountain
In April, it is a little cool on Qingcheng Mountain. The mountain show much vitality in April as the trees there sprout. As one of the top 4 Taoist mountains in China, Qingcheng Mountain features several old Taoist buildings to explore. In addition, it is home to hundreds of plants, including some endemic plants.

Dujiangyan Irrigation System
Situated around 15 kilometers north of Qingcheng Mountain, Dujiangyan Irrigation System – the oldest of its kind in the world is the only in use. The water level is a little higher in April than that in March. When you walk on the Annan Rope Bridge across the river, the water will makes soaring sounds. The area has old temples to discover as well.

Jinli Pedestrian Street
If you would like to enjoy local culture, you could visit Jinli Pedestrian Street which is part of the area of Wuhouci Temple. On the street, you could find several inns transformed from the old buildings in the end Qing Dynasty (1644 – 1912). Locals also provide shadow plays on the street. And, you could refresh yourself with a cup of tea at one of the old tea houses.

West Pearl Tower
With a height of 339 meters, West Pearl Tower offers the stunning sunset to appreciate. You could also experience the adrenaline-rising transparent outdoor viewpoint. The night views from the revolving restaurant at the height of 213 meters are amazing too.

Wuhouci Temple
If you want to know more about the history of the Three Kingdoms (220 – 265 AD), the Wuhouci Temple is the best option. Originally built in 221, the temple is in memory of the heroes during the period of time. Temporary exhibitions on the history of the time are held there to let visitors get much acquainted with it. The king of Shu Han Kingdom (221 – 263), Liu Bei (161 – 223) are buried in the Hui Mausoleum in the area as well.

Chunxi Pedestrian Street
Chunxi Pedestrian Street is very popular among local young people and tourists. It is one of the landmarks in Chengdu. Covering an area of some 20 hectares, the street was built in 1924. It has more than 500 stores to enjoy window-shopping. You could know a little about the local culture from the relief wall.

Jinsha Archaeological Site
With an area of some 5 square kilometers, Jinsha Archaeological Site is the old capital of the Ancient Shu Kingdom (1045 BC – 360 BC). A sacrifice area, a dwellings area, a large cemetery and the base of large buildings are found there. In the museum, gold, bronze, stone, jade and ivory wares tell us the history of the ancient kingdom.

Sichuan Opera
Well-known for face-changing, the Sichuan Opera is one of the must-experience sights in Chengdu. You could enjoy the opera at a traditional wooden table. During the opera, you can try tea and local snacks for extra charge (the ticket for the opera in some theaters includes them). The most popular theater in Chengdu is Shufeng Yayun (蜀风雅韵).
