In September, plants on the mountain where Great Wall of China – Mutianyu are still green. The section is more popular among foreigners than the Great Wall of China – Badaling. It offers 20 watchtowers to explore. There is no direct bus from Guilin city to the pier in Guilin. The only option is to rent a vehicle to the pier (the pier for the 3-star cruise is called Mopanshan Pier and the pier for the 4-star and 4.5-star cruises is Zhujiang Pier). For the private rafting, there are piers in Yangdi and Xingping.

- As at 4th October 2020, the return cruise from Yangshuo to Yangdi is available & operating. It typically operates between April to October. The same applies for the Yangshuo to Guilin return cruises.
- There are one or two vegetarian dish options on the 4-star and 4.5-star boats. If you are vegetarian, it is suggested that you have lunch at the very first beginning as some meat may drop into the vegetables when other passengers pick it.
- There is a security check at the pier just like that at the airport. It is recommended that you arrive at the pier 30 minutes at least in advance.
- All types of tickets on the 4-star and 4.5 star boats are capped with the same pricing due to the accounting reason. But the actual pricing is higher than that on the ticket.
- For the Private Li River Cruise Rafts, persons over 65 years of age and under 120 cms tall are not permitted on-board.
Tian’anmen Square is located in front of the Forbidden City. If you would like to visit the Forbidden City, you have to walk through the square. The square offers you an option to admire the solemn national flag-raising ceremony in the very early morning. You could also appreciate Great Hall of the People, the Monument to the People’s Heroes and the National Museum of China from outside.
4. Lama Temple
Originally built in 1694, the Lama Temple was the place where Qianlong Emperor (1711 – 1799) was born. It was also the former residence of Yongzheng Emperor (1678 – 1735). The temple is the Buddhist temple with the highest standard in the mid and end of the Qing Dynasties. With red walls and golden glazed tiles, it features buildings in a combination of Han, Man and Mongolian styles.
Originally built in 1420, the Temple of Heaven worked as the venue for the emperors in the Ming and Qing Dynasties to pray for good harvest and worship the Heaven. The must-visit spots there include Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest, Gate of Prayer for Good Harvest, Circular Mound Altar, and much more. Through these old buildings and the exhibits, you could know some about the sacrificial ceremony in ancient China.
The Summer Palace is called “the Royal Garden Museum”. Covering an area of 290 hectares, it is the best-preserved royal garden in Beijing. It has more than 3,000 rooms in the Qing Dynasty. You could walk along Suzhou Street to bargain for the old items you are interested in, or explore the old temples, or enjoy boating on the Kunming Lake.
7. Ming Tombs
If you are interested in the funeral culture of royal family in the Ming Dynasty, the Ming Tombs 50 kilometers from Tian’anmen Square is a good choice. 13 emperors in the Ming Dynasty were buried there. For now, just 3 of them are open to the public. They are Chang Tomb where Zhu Di and his wife are sleeping forever, Ding Tomb where Zhu Yijun and two wives of his were buried and Zhao Tomb where Zhu Zaiji and three wives of his are sleeping forever.
8. Beijing Hutongs
Hutongs are the best place where you could be able to experience the local authentic life in Beijing. Old courtyards are the best highlight along the Hutongs.
