1. Forbidden City

If you are planning to know some about the royal culture and buildings in China, the Forbidden City is a must-visit spot in Beijing. Set in the center of Beijing City, the Forbidden City is the royal palace for the royal families in the Ming (1368 – 1644) and Qing (1644 – 1912) Dynasties. It is a combination of the classical Chinese buildings and the precious and rare royal jewelry.

2. Beihai Park
Beihai Park is the existing oldest and best-preserved classic royal garden in China. In the park, you could enjoy boating on the Beihai Lake, and explore the old buildings, including the Nine Dragon Walls with two sides where you will find 635 dragons in total. It is safer to enjoy the cruise from October to March and in May, July and August as it rains a little in Yangshuo.

 

How to get to the Li River Cruise?

There is no direct bus from Guilin city to the pier in Guilin. The only option is to rent a vehicle to the pier (the pier for the 3-star cruise is called Mopanshan Pier and the pier for the 4-star and 4.5-star cruises is Zhujiang Pier). For the private rafting, there are piers in Yangdi and Xingping.

 

Additional Li River Cruise Advice

  • As at 4th October 2020, the return cruise from Yangshuo to Yangdi is available & operating. It typically operates between April to October. The same applies for the Yangshuo to Guilin return cruises.
  • There are one or two vegetarian dish options on the 4-star and 4.5-star boats. If you are vegetarian, it is suggested that you have lunch at the very first beginning as some meat may drop into the vegetables when other passengers pick it.
  • There is a security check at the pier just like that at the airport. It is recommended that you arrive at the pier 30 minutes at least in advance.
  • All types of tickets on the 4-star and 4.5 star boats are capped with the same pricing due to the accounting reason. But the actual pricing is higher than that on the ticket.
  • For the Private Li River Cruise Rafts, persons over 65 years of age and under 120 cms tall are not permitted on-board.

3. Great Wall of China

With the rising of the temperature, many visitors like to climb the Great Wall of China. Great Wall of China – Mutianyu is more popular than Great Wall of China – Badaling among foreigners. In April, the trees on the mountain are sprouting. Views from the Great Wall of China are more amazing in April than those in March. You could take a cable car to the 14th Watchtower and then hike to the 20th one. The steps from the 19th one to the 20th one are very steep, approximately vertical.

4. Jingshan Park
In April, Jingshan Park is dotted with several species of colorful flowers. It is situated at the centre of Beijing as well. If you have no time to explore the Forbidden City, Wanchun Pavilion on the top of Jinshan Mountain there offers you a great choice to enjoy the panoramic views of the Forbidden City.

5. Ritan Park

Originally functioned as a venue of worshipping the God Sun for the emperors in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Ritan Park is decorated with a variety of flowers in April. The fresco in the park presents the ceremony of worshipping the God Sun in ancient China. You could find old buildings for the ceremony as well in the park.

6. Summer Palace
Covering an area of 290 hectares, the Summer Palace is the best preserved royal garden in the Qing Dynasty. In April, plants there show more vitality as well.

7. Hutongs

10. Olympic Park
If you would like to experience local night life, Sanlitun Bar Street is a good choice. It always attracts many foreign visitors.
