Tam Coc – a combination of natural views, spectacular rivers and old temples

Acclaimed as “Ha Long Bay on Land”, Tam Coc features around 10 ‘explored’ caves and karst hills like those in Guilin, China to explore. Wutong River winds through the area. Farming fields on either side of the river add more charm to the Tam Coc.

What to expect at Tam Coc
Tam Coc offers several karst hills and scenery to appreciate along the river. You could explore the caves in different sizes on a traditional boat operated by a local Vietnamese lady. It could be kind of distinctive experience during your Vietnam Tour. The Big Cave is said to be the largest and most beautiful cave at Tam Coc. It runs through two hills.
In July and early November, the views there are the most amazing as rice turns golden. When wind blows, rice looks like golden ribbons. During the two periods of time, many tourists, especially photographers love to admire the karst scenery and golden rice. They’ll create great photos with their camera. In other months, you may encounter several bulls eating grass along the river.
Several old temples hidden on the hills. You could explore one or two after enjoying boating on the Wutong River. Generally speaking, the boat takes you to appreciate the views in the area for around 2 hours.
Best time to visit Tam Coc
If you would like to explore it for photography purposes, the best time to visit Tam Coc is at sunset.
The best months to visit are from May to November.
How to get to Tam Coc
Unfortunately, there is no bus to Tam Coc from Ninh Binh or Hanoi. Thus, the only option is to rent a vehicle to the area.
