Sun Zhongshan Memorial Hall is a structure of Lama Temple in the Qing Dynasty (1644 – 1912) style. Works by Sun Yat-Sen and other precious materials introducing the great man are well preserved in the hall.

What to expect at the Sun Zhongshan Memorial Hall

Located in Dr Sun Yat-Sen’s Mausoleum, Sun Zhongshan Memorial Hall features green and yellow glazed tiles. On the square in front of the building stands a 2.6-meters-high bronze statue of Sun Yat-Sen. The full text of the Three People’s Principles (Nationalism, Democracy, the People’s Livelihood) by Sun Yat-Sen is carved on the wall of the cloister behind the building.
Exhibits on the second and third floors illustrate the entire life of the great man. You’ll see pictures telling Sun Yat-Sen met his counterparts and celebrities at that time. More than 300 historical pictures and a variety of cultural relics and models demonstrate his contributions to the Republic of China (1912 – 1949). The Wax Work Hall of Celebrities in the Xinhai Revolution (1911) presents the 57 wax statue who played significant roles in the revolution. The 22 groups of wax statues reflect important historical events before, in and after the revolution.
In spring, Sun Zhongshan Memorial Hall is surrounded by plum blossom, almond flowers, peach blossoms, and camellias. In autumn, you’ll immerse yourself in refreshing sweet-scented osmanthus. In addition, red maple leaves in late autumn make for gorgeous pictures as well.

How to get to the Sun Zhongshan Memorial Hall

As the memorial hall is located in Dr Sun Yat-Sen’s Mausoleum, you can take Bus 34 or rent a vehicle to the Carpark of Dr Sun Yat-Sen’s Mausoleum (中山陵停车场站) and then transfer to the shuttle bus to the mausoleum. Finally, walk up stairs to the hall.​

 

Additional Sun Zhongshan Memorial Hall Travel Advice

  • Opening hours: 09:00 – 17:00 (visitors are not permitted to enter the hall from 16:30)
  • As at 15th October 2020, tourists can visit it for free.
  • Please book the free entrance ticket through WeChat Official Account of “中山风景区” on WeChat or on www.zschina.org.cn beforehand.
  • Please present your passport with the OR code of the booking at the ticket office.
  • From Tuesday to Friday, up to 18,000 persons per day are permitted to visit it while at weekends and holidays the largest number of visitors us 30,000 per day.
