What to expect at Song Dynasty Town
Main buildings in the Song Dynasty Town were built based on the picture of Along the River During the Qingming Festival. The urban scene in the dynasty is restored in the town. It offers Strange Street with reclining houses and upside houses, Xianshan, Shijing Street, Songcheng River, and one thousand-years-old camphor tree, and more than 10 traditional workshops such as Iron Shop, Oil Press Workshop, Wine Workshop, Root Carving, sugar painting, and batik, etc.
At Shijing Street, you’ll see interesting folk shows popular in the Song Dynasty, including glove puppet show, marionette show, shadow play, and monkey standing on hands on the head of a sheep.
You can also admire exciting shows in the Song Dynasty Town. The Romance of the Song Dynasty is the most popular there. Sound, light, electrical technology, and stage machinery are employed to interpret the hardships of the Liangzhu people, the glorious Song Palace, the facts of Yue’s Soldier fighting the invasion of the Jin Dynasty, and the story of the Butterfly Lovers and the Tale of the White Serpent.
The Love of Lijiang Show tells the sad love story between Abuda, a Tibetan boy and Gajimi, a Naxi girl. The show presents the attractive ethnic dances as well. The war show of Azalea presents the cruelty of Anti-Japanese War. The 5D play of Earthquake reproduces the tragic scenes of the 512 Wenchuan earthquake and presents the strong spirit of Chinese people to combat the quake and do relief work. Song Dynasty Town also features several thrilling rooms to experience.

The best time to visit Song Dynasty Town is in the morning as it is not so crowded.
The best months to visit are from March to October.

 

How to get to the Song Dynasty Town

Several buses pass by the town. Thus, there are several options.

  • Rent a vehicle to the town. This is the quickest and most direct option.
  • Take Bus 4, 39, 121, 189, 308, 314, 318, 318B, 354, or Bus 439 to the Stop of Songcheng (宋城站). Then walk to the town.

  • Opening hours: from 10:00 am to 40 minutes later than the ending time of the last show.
  • As at 9th October 2020, the entrance pricing to the town including VIP seating for the Romance of the Song Dynasty show is 320 CNY per person; the entrance pricing to the town including the common seating for the Romance of the Song Dynasty show is 310 CNY per person; the entrance pricing to the town including luxury sofa seating with a table for the Romance of the Song Dynasty show is 580 CNY per person; children between 1.2m tall (1.2m tall included) and 1.5m tall (1.5m tall not included) are charged 260 CNY per person (children can take any types of seating ); children under 1.2m tall (1.2m tall not included) are free of charge (no seat is offered).
