Several of the old houses in Sideng Street are transformed into hotels with their own characters. If interested, you could stay overnight in one of the hotels to experience the local life much deeper. More than 30 old houses in Bai style are more than 100-years-old in the street. The most popular among visitors is Ouyang’s Compound. Xingjiao Temple is the only well-preserved Achili Buddhist Temple in the Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644). Achili Buddhism is a type of Buddhism to Bai people. In the temple, you will see the buildings in the style of Tibetan Lamaism and the buildings with the characters of the typical Buddhist Tantra.
The old Kuixingge Stage lies opposite Xingjiao Temple. It was originally built between 1760 and 1820. On the lunar 28th of February, locals always celebrate the Prince Fair on the stage, singing and dancing. Yujin Bridge was originally built between 1662 and 1722. In addition, you could visit 3 old gates in the street.
The fine handicrafts made by locals are a highlight in the street. They reflect the culture and customs of locals. You could also enjoy horseback riding or riding a donkey to explore the street if you’d like.
