Close to the Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai Ocean Aquarium is a modern and world-class marine aquarium. It is divided into nine exhibition areas of China, South America (Amazon), Australia, Africa, Southeast Asia, cold water, polar regions, coasts and deep seas. Visitors can appreciated more than 450 species from more than 5 continents, and four oceans and more than 12,000 rare fishes and endangered rare creatures.

What to expect at Shanghai Ocean Aquarium
Situated at No. 1388, Lujiazui Ring Road, Pudong New Area, Shanghai Ocean Aquarium is the only aquarium in the world with an independent China and Yangtze River Basin exhibition area to showcase China's unique aquatic life. Most of the animals displayed are nationally protected animals, including Chinese sturgeon, Chinese high fin banded shark, Chinese alligator, and giant salamander.
At the aquarium, you can find Australian archerfish, African polypterus bichir, white hammerhead sharks of the Southeast Asian, South American electric eel and pirarucu, and other unique fishes. In addition, you will see the cute penguins and seals, horseshoe crabs, weedy seadragon, and ribbon seadragons.
In addition, you can walk through the 155-meter-long undersea tunnel – one of the longest undersea tunnels in the world – to admire the amazing marine life.

The best time to visit Shanghai Ocean Aquarium is in the morning except at weekends and during the holidays as it always takes several hours to explore the park.

How to get to Shanghai Ocean Aquarium
There are several buses passing by the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium. Therefore, there are several options.
- Rent a vehicle to the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium. This is the quickest and most direct option.
- Take Bus 81, 82, 85, 583, 774, 795, 798, 799, 870, 961, 970, 985, 992 and Bus 993 to the aquarium.
- Take Metro Line 2 to Stop of Lujiazui (陆家嘴站). Then, walk to the aquarium.

- Opening hours: 09:00 – 18:00 (January – June and September - December); 09:00 – 21:00 (July – August, the National Day Festival and the Spring Festival)
- As at 8th October 2020, the entrance pricing to the aquarium is 160 CNY per person; children between 1m tall (1m tall included) and 1.4m tall (1.4m tall included) are charged 110 CNY per person; children under 1m tall (1m tall not included)are free of charge.
