What is the Sanjiang Drum Tower?
Standing on the Moon Street, Sanjiang Dong Autonomous County, Sanjiang Drum Tower is 42.6 meters tall. It covers an area of 600 square meters.
The entire tower is supported by 60 pillars and it has 27 layers of eaves. The whole building was built with wood without any iron nails. The tower was built in November 2002 in the traditional way under the guide of the local famous craftsman, Yang Siyu.

What to expect at the Sanjiang Drum Tower

The Sanjiang Drum Tower is the tallest at the Dong ethnic village. It is a symbol of the Dong ethnic minority. Sanjiang Drum Tower is the place where locals gather to discuss important matters and hold local festivals. The 27 layer eaves form a shape of pyramid. The corner of each eaves is a little curved. The interior of the tower is decorated with exquisite carvings and colorful paintings on the eaves.
You will find some reliefs reflecting local life on the stone base of the tower, such as sparkler-grabbing Competition, cockfighting, oil-tea making, silkworm breeding and weaving. The diameter of the 4 main fir pillars in the tower is more than 70 centimeters. One pillar is more than 208 years old. With a diameter of 85 centimeters, it is 27 meters tall. One pillar is more than 206 years old. |

As the drum tower stands in the county of Sanjiang, you could get to Sanjiang by train from Guilin or Liuzhou first. Then rent a vehicle to the tower. Or rent a vehicle to the tower from Guilin or Liuzhou directly.

- Visitors can only be allowed to walk upstairs to the second floor out of safety.
