Saigon Central Mosquethe largest mosque in Ho Chi Minh City

Originally built by Muslim from Tamil, South India in 1935, the Central Mosque was formerly called India Jamia Muslim Mosque. The facade is white while the interior is light blue. Its overall architectural structure is modeled after the architectural style of the Roman church in Europe. The shape of the door features a Roman-style arch structure. Indian Buddhist architectural style is also added to the building the arc of the head jamb has a lotus shape.

What to expect at the Saigon Central Mosque

Central Mosque is acclaimed as the most important one in Ho Chi Minh City. Local Cham ethnic minority usually go to church on Fridays. Even, some business from India, Malaysia, Indonesia and Pakistan and Muslim from around the country also go to church there.
The mosque features a pool for being baptized before praying. The water is very clean. There are many Muslim restaurants around. In addition, Noorul Imaan Arabic school and aji JMM Ismael Library, a Muslim library are situated nearby.

Best time to visit the Saigon Central Mosque

The mosque is closed to the public. But on Fridays, Muslim can enter it. Tourists can appreciate the facade in the morning.

 

How to get to the Saigon Central Mosque

There are several buses passing by the mosque. Thus, there are several options.

  • Rent a vehicle to the mosque. This is the quickest and most direct option.
  • Take Bus 2, 3, 123, 124, 53 and Bus 56.

  • Opening hours only for Muslim: 08:00 – 20:00
  • Non-Muslim is not permitted to enter the mosque.
  • Please take off shoes before entering the mosque.
