What is the Qujiang Museum of Fine Arts?
Opened in July, 2012, Xi’an Qujiang Museum of Fine Arts is located the second floor under the ground floor of The Westin Xi'an Hotel at the southwestern corner of South Square of Big Wild Goose Pagoda. It is the only museum in the world that uses murals to tell the history of ancient Chinese painting.

What to expect at the Qujiang Museum of Fine ArtsXi’an Qujiang Museum of Fine Arts is aimed to rescue, protect, collect and display tangible cultural heritage centered on ancient Chinese murals and the intangible cultural heritage with Shaanxi regional characteristics, with the purpose to promote Chinese traditional culture and Shaanxi cultural undertakings.
Composed of the Gallery for the Source of the Ancient Chinese Murals, the Gallery for the Gold Ware of Dongbozhai, the Gallery for the Porcelain of Dongbozhai and the Boutique Hall of the Museum’s Collection. The museum covers an area of 120,00 square meters. The basic exhibition hall covers an area of 1,100 square meters. The ancient Chinese murals are on display in the basic exhibition hall. |

More than 80 murals at the Gallery for the Source of the Ancient Chinese Murals demonstrate the history of ancient Chinese painting from 6000 years ago to the end of the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1912). The clothing, food and shelter, the system of rules and regulations, music and dance, etc. In the ancient China are all reflected in the murals.
More than 200 pieces of the imperious royal gold objects in the Wanli Period (1573 - 1620) of the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644) are on display at the Gallery for the Gold Ware of Dongbozhai.28 majestic and imposing gold bricks reflect the royal life in the Ming and Qing dynasties. To date, the Golden armor in the Qin Dynasty (221 - 207 BC) at Boutique Hall of the Museum’s Collection is the only one made of gold found in the ancient China.

As Xi’an Qujiang Museum of Fine Arts is located in the second floor under the ground floor of The Westin Xi'an Hotel, there are some options.
- Rent a vehicle to the hotel. This is the quickest and most direct option.
- Take Bus 5, 19, 21, 27, 30, 34, 41, 400, 401, 408, 501, 601, 610 and Tourist Bus 6 and 8 to the Stop of the South Square of Big Wild Goose Pagoda (大雁塔南广场站). Then, take 1 minute walk to the hotel.
- Take Metro Line 3 to the Stop of Big Wild Goose Pagoda (大雁塔站). Walk to Exit B. Walk to the hotel.

- As at 9th October 2020, for the Gallery for the Source of the Ancient Chinese Murals, the Gallery for the Gold Ware of Dongbozhai, and the Gallery for the Porcelain of Dongbozhai,t he admission fee is 175 CNY per person; For the Boutique Hall of the Museum’s Collection, the admission fee is 50 CNY per person. Children under 1.2m (1.2m not included) and the elder above 65 years old (65 years old not included) are free of charge.
