Quan Am Pagodaone of the most popular and famous pagodas in Ho Chi Minh City

Originally built in 1740 by the Chinese Vietnamese, Quan Am Pagoda is also called Wenling Assembly Hall. At the very first beginning, the pagoda was to be in honor of Matzu. Later, the Avalokitesvara is worshiped there until today. The building features the Chinese style.

What to expect at the Quan Am Pagoda

Quan Am Pagoda presents the strong atmosphere of Fujian pagodas in Ho Chi Minh City. The gate of the pagoda has an impressive green roof with the sculptures of Two Dragons are Playing a Pearl and other old Chinese stories. With Chinese poetic couplets on, the pillars are golden.
You’ll see several horizontal tablets with golden Chinese characters on. The exquisite reliefs of Four Heavenly Kings are stunning as well. Tens of incense spirals hung above head reflect the popularity of the pagoda in Ho Chi Minh City. The Buddhist reliefs on the wall in the hall are also impressive. You could not only find that Avalokitesvara as well as Matzu is worshiped there, but also Guan Yu, Bao Zheng, Emperor Wen Chang and other Buddhas with the 18 arhats are there. Most of the reliefs there are golden, demonstrating the typical Chinese features.

How to get to the Quan Am Pagoda

The pagoda is close to Bệnh viện Chợ Rẫy bus station. You could take Bus 6, 7, 8, 17, 54, 56, 62, 68, 139 or 150 to the station first. And then walk to the pagoda. Alternatively, you could rent a vehicle to the pagoda.
