With an area of 860 hectares, Qixia Mountain Scenic Spot was formerly called She Mountain in ancient times. It is dotted with more than 80 historical sites related with Buddhism, stone carvings, tea, geology and emperors. It also offers stunning natural views to enjoy around the year.

What to expect at the Qixia Mountain Scenic SpotLocated around 20 kilometers from Taiping Gate, Qixia Mountain Scenic Spot lies north of Yangtze River. The main peak, Sanmao Peark is 286 meters above sea level. The mountain is home to 500 species of wild plants. It is well-known for the red maple leaves between late October and late November. During the period of time, hundreds of tourists like to visit the mountain, especially Maple Hill for the gorgeous views.
Originally built in 489, Qixia Temple is surrounded by mountains in three directions while the Yangtze River runs in the north. Pagoda for Buddhist Relics there is the largest of its kind across China. It was originally built in 602. Exquisite reliefs of Sakya Buddha, and Samantabhadra can be found on the pagoda. Originally dug in the Southern Qi Dynasty (479 - 502), Big Buddha Pavilion features the 11-meters-tall statue of Buddha to worship. Thousand-Buddha Cave was created in the Southern Dynasty (420 - 589), offering more than 500 large and small statues of Buddha to appreciate. Mingjing Lake lies some 50 meters in front of Qixia Temple. It was built between 1736 and 1795. You can admire the lotus via the winding stone bridge in the lake. Red Leaves Valley is home to strange stones, old maples and ancient vines. Luyu Tea House, a structure of the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907) style, overlooks the Yangtze River, and Nanjing City. In addition, you can enjoy the panoramic views of Qixia Mountain on the top of the house. |

How to get to the Qixia Mountain Scenic Spot
Several buses pass by the mountain. Thus, there are several options.
- Rent a a vehicle to the mountain. This is the quickest and most direct option.
- Take Bus 138, 206, 743, 197, 194, 195, 207, 326, or Bus 237 to the Stop of Qixiasi (栖霞寺站). Then walk to the mountain.

- As at 15th October 2020, the entrance pricing to the mountain is 40 CNY per person from October to December; children under 1.4m tall (1.4m tall not included) are free of charge; the elder above 70 years old (70 years old not included) are free of charge.
- The entrance pricing to the mountain is 25 CNY per person from January to September; children under 1.4m tall (1.4m tall not included) are free of charge; the elder above 70 years old (70 years old not included) are free of charge.
