Situated around 129 kilometers east of Hangzhou, Qiandao Lake Center Lake Area is the most popular at Qiandao Lake Area. With an area of 573 square kilometers, Qiandao Lake is dotted with 1,078 islets. The name just comes from the number of the islets there.

What to expect at Qiandao Lake Center Lake Area
Qiandao Lake Center Lake Area offers four islets to tourist to explore.
Meifeng Island has a viewpoint with an altitude of 204 meters above sea level. You can enjoy the bird’s eye views of area there. Blue sky, clouds, and green islets make for amazing pictures. The viewpoint overlooks the highlights of Qiandao Lake. From spring to winter, islets around are covered with different appearances. In spring, they are decorated with colorful wild flowers. In summer, green adds more vitality to them. In autumn, trees bear small yellow and golden fruits. Snow makes the islets around a fairyland in winter. After disembarking at the pier on the island, you can just walk on the steps to the viewpoint. Alternatively, you can take a cable car where you can appreciate views from different angles.
Longshan Island is a combination of natural beauty and cultural landscape. In addition to the appealing nature, old buildings on the island are also worthy of visiting. Shuitian Yise Building is a good viewpoint at the island. Being an Anhui style structure, Shixia Academy reproduces the original layout in the Southern Song Dynasty (1127 – 1279). Originally built in 1562, Hairui Temple is to commemorate Hairui, an official in the Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644) who was upright and outspoken and didn’t accept bribes when he was in office. The temple is decorated with exquisite carvings to admire.
Yueguang (Moonlight) Island is acclaimed as the most romantic at the area. You’ll find a huge bronze lock with a weight of 2.6 tons on the Pingan Lock Square. China Lock Exhibition Hall, the first locks museum in China is situated on the island. More than 1,000 locks are on display. In Love Garden, you’ll see many types of locks as well. Xi Garden is one of the most famous wedding photography bases in China. You’ll find many sculptures related with love in the garden.
Yuyue Island is fitted with tourist facilities. You can enjoy different types of buffet there. Water World on the island is the largest water theme park across Qiandao Lake. It provides luxury motorboats, water bikes, yachts and leisure boats to rent. In addition, it offers exciting shows, including acrobatics, calligraphy, parody and tambourine shows.

Best time to visit Qiandao Lake Center Lake Area

If you’d like to visit the area for photography purposes, the best time to visit is at sunrise or sunset.
The best months to visit are from March to October.

 

How to get to Qiandao Lake Center Lake Area

More than 20 high-speed trains can take you to Qiandaohu Town from Hangzhou. The journey takes just 1 hour. After arriving at the train station of Qiandaohu Town, you can rent a vehicle to the pier for the cruise boat. Alternatively, you can just rent a vehicle to the pier from Hangzhou.

 

Additional Qiandao Lake Center Lake Area Travel Advice

  • Opening hours: 08:00 – 16:00. The cruise boats are closed from 13:00 which means you’d need to take the cruise boat by 13:00 if you are interested to.
  • As at 9th October 2020, the entrance ticket for the cruise boat (including the entrance ticket for the Center Lake Area) is 175 CNY per person; children between 1.2m tall (1.2m tall included) and 1.5m tall (1.5m tall not included) are charged 90 CNY per person (children can take any types of seating ); children under 1.2m tall (1.2m tall not included) are free of charge (no seat is offered). Please note, there is no lunch offered on the cruise boat.
  • The entrance ticket for the cruise boat with simple lunch on teh boat (including the entrance ticket for the Center Lake Area) is 230 CNY per person; children between 1.2m tall (1.2m tall included) and 1.5m tall (1.5m tall not included) are charged 145 CNY per person (children can take any types of seating ); children under 1.2m tall (1.2m tall not included) are free of charge (no seat is offered). Please note, there is no lunch offered on the cruise boat.
