What to expect at the Phung Son Tu Pagoda
Son Tu Pagoda is in honor of the God of Happiness and Virtue. It has a jade green roof with the statues of dragons on. The wall was built in red bricks. The interior corridor is decorated with beautiful wood carvings. You could admire the paintings of the legends of the Chinese gods in a quiet surrounding as the pagoda is not so popular among tourists as Thien Hau Pagoda. The large incense spirals are also one of the highlights there. There is a red wooden drum in the pagoda. You’ll find the four tablets just like those in the Yamen (the administrative office or residence of a local bureaucrat or mandarin in imperial China).
If you are interested in the local life, you could explore the market, War Surplus Market (Dan Sinh) across the street. Even dog tails and military clothing are on sale there.
