People's Assembly Hall - one of the famous landmarks in Chongqing

Located at No. 173, Renmin Road, Yuzhong Distric, Chongqing, People's Assembly Hall was originally built in June 1951 and completed in April 1954. It is an antique national architectural complex, which is one of the top ten cultural symbols in Chongqing. It is a masterpiece combining the traditional Chinese palace architectural style and western style.
What to expect at the People's Assembly Hall
People's Assembly Hall is composed of the main hall, east, south and north buildings. The main hall is 65 meters tall. It can accommodate 3,400 seats. In 1987, "History of World Architecture" by the Royal Institute of British Architects and the University of London included 43 projects after the founding of New China for the first time, of which the Chongqing People's Assembly Hall was ranked second.
The main hall is round. It is decorated with green glazed tiles. The design style refers to that of the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests. The archway is dominated by orange and red, covered with green glazed tiles, with gold patterns on both sides. With typical Ming (1368 - 1644) and Qing (1644 - 1912) architectural styles, it features 3 doors.
The former US Presidents, Japanese Prime Ministers, and former Kings of Cambodia, Nepal, Syria visited the hall as well. In addition, concerts, dramas, operas and musical dramas are held irregularly in the hall every year.

Several buses pass by the hall. Therefore, there are several options.
- Rent a vehicle to the hall. This is the quickest and most direct option.
- Take Bus 112, 145, 152, 181, 262, 322, 338, 421, 457, 829, 862, and Bus 881 to the Stop of Dalitang (大礼堂站).
