In front of the Hall of Great Harmony in the Forbidden City in Beijing, the Nice Dragon Screen is a must-visit place for those who walk around the city.
It stands outside of the Huangji Gate. In ancient China, it was used to block the sight in traditional Chinese architecture. When the Palace of Peace and Longevity was reconstructed in 1770, the screen wall was made.

What to expect at the Nine Dragon Screen of the Palace MuseumThe roof of the wall is covered with yellow glazed tile. Under the roof is wood-like rafter, purlin and dougong. The wall is shaded by blue clouds and green water to create the majestic momentum of the water and sky. The lower part is built with the white marbles. There are 9 dragon reliefs on the screen wall. The highest point of these reliefs is 20cm higher than the wall. The cliffs and stones that traverse the wall separate the 9 dragons into 5 spaces. Every dragon is playing with a precious bead. The yellow dragon is situated in the middle of the wall. On the left are one blue dragon and one white dragon. On the right are also one blue dragon and one white dragon.

- Rent a vehicle to Forbidden City. This is the quickest and most direct option. Please note that there is no parking lot in the Forbidden City.
- Take Bus 1, Bus 120, Bus 2, Bus 52, Bus 59, Bus 82, Bus 99, Sightseeing Bus 1 and 2 and Metro 1 to the Stop of Tian’anmen Dong (天安门东站). Walk to the Forbidden City.
- Take Bus 101, Bus 103, Bus 109, Bus 58, Bus 685 and Bus 124 to the Stop of Gugong (故宫站).

- Opening hours: 08:30 - 16:10 (April 1 - October 31); 08:30 - 15:40 (November 1 - March 31). It is closed on Mondays except the public holidays.
