Located at the Science and Technology Bio-Industrial Park in Xining City, Qinghai Province, Museum of China Tibetan Medicine Culture is the only museum in the world with the theme of Tibetan medicine culture. It is also a comprehensive museum for collecting, protecting, displaying and studying Tibetan culture.

What to expect at the Museum of China Tibetan Medicine Culture
Completed in 2006, Museum of China Tibetan Medicine Culture covers a total construction area of 42,000 square meters. It features a collection of 40,000 pieces of cultural relics. The museum is composed of several exhibition halls, including Tibetan medicine history, Mantang equipment, ancient books, specimens of Tibetan medicine, astronomical calendars, grand painting, Tibetan folk customs, Tibetan calligraphy, and the hall of pharmacists Buddha.
At the exhibition hall of Tibetan Medical History, you will get a little acquainted with seven historical periods of the development of Tibetan medicine, the deeds, statues and famous works of 28 famous Tibetan medical scientists through the collections. The collections will present you the glorious historical track of the development of Tibetan medicine.
The 80 Thangkas exhibited at the Mantang Equipment Exhibition Hall are unique in the history of medicine and are rare in the history of medical science in the world. These Thangkas and more than 180 surgical instruments used by the doctors of the traditional Tibetan medicine reflect the theory and practice of Tibetan medicine systematically and intuitively.
You will find more than 1,000 most representative books in the vast collection of Tibetan medicine literature at the exhibition hall. More than 300 books on contemporary Tibetan medicine are on display at the hall as well.
More than 2,000 specimens of animals, plants and minerals distributed in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau are on display at the exhibition hall of Tibetan medicine specimens. In addition, you can see finished medicines that have been included in the national drug basic catalogue and protected by the national traditional Chinese medicine, such as RNSP, and Renqing Changjue.
The sand wheel altar city, astronomical calendar tools, ancient books, Thangka, modern scientific and technological means at the astronomical calendar exhibition hall are applied to reproduce the scenes and restore the simulation of Tibetan calendars. You can explore the statues of Tibetan historical scholars who have made outstanding contributions to the astronomical calendar in the past.
At the Grand Painting Exhibition Hall, "Chinese Tibetan Grand Painting" is on display. "Grand Painting" is 618 meters long. There are more than 700 Thangkas and more than 3,000 different patterns of pile embroidery in it. It demonstrates Tibetan understanding on the universe, history, religion, medicine, Cultural life and other aspects.

- Take Bus 1, 34 and Bus 4 to the Stop of Xinyue Garden (新乐花园). Then, walk to the museum.
