With a long history of more than 500 years, Manzhang Village in Mengyang is a better-preserved Dai minority village in Xishuangbanna. Located around 65 kilometers southeast of Jinghong, the village offers Dai-style stilt houses, and traditional culture to appreciate.

Manzhang Village in Mengyang features an old linden tree. Local women always enjoy dancing under the tree. Locals love to chat with one another under the tree as well. The tree witnesses the history of the village for hundreds of years. The village is not well-developed so that you could experience more authentic local life and culture there.

If you are interested, you could experience the traditional Dai paper making and Dai ceramics processes. What’s more, palm-leaf scripture, Dai-style paper-cutting and Dai-style weaving processes are also well-preserved in the village. And you also can try to make your own palm-leaf scripture. Unfortunately, there is no direct bus to Manzhang Village in Mengyang. Therefore, the only option is to rent a vehicle from Jinghong to the village.
