With an area of 2,427.8 square kilometers, Lake Tai has a lake shoreline of 393.2 kilometers. There are more than 50 islands in or adjacent the lake, 18 of which are populated. In Suzhou, you can explore the Tourist Area of Wuzhong Taihu Lake to enjoy the views of the lake.

What to expect at Lake TaiCovering an area of 21.5 square kilometers, Tourist Area of Wuzhong Taihu Lake in Suzhou is composed of Taihu National Wetland Park, West Mountain, Guangfu Scenic Area, East Mountain, and Qionglong Mountain.
Taihu National Wetland Park features amazing views to admire around the year. In spring, peach blossom, sakura, Chinese flowering crabapple and strange scarecrows make for great views for photographing. In summer, you can enjoy cycling in the park or boating on the lake. On the National Day and the Mid-Autumn Festival, exciting activities are usually held there. If you are a birdwatching lover, it is recommended that you explore the park between early December and middle February when thousands of migratory birds stay there. Qianjiawu Village is a great place to try local green food. Originally built in 1922, Diaohua Building features exquisite diverse carvings, including brick, wood, stone, gold, and clay carvings to appreciate. Located in the western hillside of East Mountain, Luxiang Old Village has more than 20 old buildings in the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644) to explore. Sanshandao National Wetland Park is home to 692 old jujube trees which are more than 100 years old. Tourist Area of Wuzhong Taihu Lake in Suzhou is also dotted with several old buildings, including temples, academies, stone roads and the like. |
Best time to visit Lake Tai
If you’d like to visit the lake for photography purposes, the best time to visit is at sunrise and sunset.

How to get to Lake Tai
You can take Bus 3, 43 or Bus 441 to the Stop of Taihu National Wetland Park (太湖湿地公园站). Alternatively, you can rent a vehicle to the lake.
