Jinfo Mountain one of the most famous mountains in Sichuan Province

Covering an area of 1,300 square kilometers, Jinfo Mountain, a World Natural Heritage Site, features the typical karst landscape. The tallest peak is 2,238 meters tall. It has natural caves to explore. The unpredictable meteorological landscape, thrilling cliffs, and historic Tang Dynasty (618 – 907) temple complex are also highlights there.

What to expect at Jinfo Mountain

Jinfo Mountain is home to rare plants and wild animals, such as Cathaya, Chinese dove tree, Tangtsinia nanchuanica, tortoise leopard, tufted deer. The mountain presents different stunning appearances in four seasons. In spring, the alpine azalea is in blossom. In summer, the mountain is a great resort. In autumn, the mountain is decorated with different colors, making for breathtaking views. In winter, it is covered with snow.

 

Bitan Valley Scenic Area is located in the west of Jinfo Mountain area. The valley is around 3.5 kilometers long. It takes around 90 – 120 minutes to hike around the valley. Walk along the trail and you may encounter the wild monkey. Listening to the birds’ singing and touching the cool breeze in the forest is refreshing experience as well. The area has been popular among local hikers for tens of years.

 

Ancient Wild Azalea Park with an area of 6 square kilometers offers a 4-kilometers-long trail. The main scenic spots are the sky walk on the cliff, Lingguan Cave, Jinfo Buddhist Temple, a Chimonobambusa qundrangularis forest, and wild amalea. Especially, the views of the sunrise and clouds there are very gorgeous. The sky walk is 3.5 kilometers long. Exploring the walk is kind of challenging yourself.

 

The Jinfo Mountain Area has natural stone forests to explore. In addition, some old trees and vines grow from the rocks. Originally formed 6.5 million years ago, the Old Buddhist Cave covers an area of around 50,000 square meters. Sculptures of Buddhas are worshiped in the cave.

Best time to visit Jinfo Mountain

The best time to visit Jinfo Mountain is in the morning.

The best months to visit are from April to October.

 

How to get to Jinfo Mountain

Unfortunately, there is no direct bus to Jinfo Mountain from Chongqing. Therefore, the only option is to rent a vehicle.
