Flights to Shanghai

By the end of 2017, up to 110 airlines had opened regular direct flights to Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport. Shanghai Pudong International Airport has been connected to 47 countries around the world through 297 cities across the world.

Domestic Flights to Shanghai
As at 16th November 2019, more than 150 cities around China, including Beijing, Beihai, Guilin, Changsha, Guangzhou, Haikou, Chengdu, Chongqing, Wuhan, Dalian, Guiyang, Nanning, Urumqi, Xi’an, Xiamen, Shenzhen, Yantai, Nanjing, Lanzhou, Zhangjiajie, Zhuhai, Harbin, Huangshan, Mianyang, Yinchuan, Sanya, Qingdao, Lijiang, Luoyang, Kashgar, Lhasa and so on have been connected to Shanghai by direct flights.

 

International Flights to Shanghai

Trains to Shanghai

There are train options via both normal trains and high-speed trains to/from Shanghai. Basically, all corners of the country are covered by normal trains whilst the high-speed rail lines continue to expand each year.

Normal trains to Shanghai
If you would like to get to Shanghai after your exploration in Xinjiang, Qinghai or Gansu Provinces and if you are interested to try a normal train in China, you could take it from the main cities in the three provinces, such as Zhangye, Xining, Urumqi, Lanzhou, etc. Generally speaking, it takes at least 15 x hours ride in a normal train at least to Shanghai from these provinces.

 

High-speed trains to Shanghai
Shanghai has the most developed railway network in East China. There are 3 railway stations in Shanghai – Shanghai Railway Station, Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station and Shanghai South Railway Station. Among them, Hongqiao Railway Station is the largest and most modern one. You could take a high-speed train to Shanghai from the main tourist destinations across China, such as Hong Kong, Guilin, Beijing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Lanzhou, Wuhan, Xiamen, Changsha, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guiyang, Xi’an, and so on.
