What to expect at the Hangzhou Botanical Garden
Mainly composed of nine exhibition areas, including economic plants, ornamental plants, trees, and landscape gardens, Hangzhou Botanical Garden offers small hills with pools. Therefore, in summer, you’ll see beautiful lotus flowers in the garden and enjoy other types of flowers. The bamboo forest is an ideal spot to wander in summer. It is very cool there.Between late February and early April, plum blossom show is regularly held on the Ling Peak. Pink and white ones create great backgrounds for photographing.

 Or, they themselves are the proper photography materials. From April to May, various kinds of colorful azalea are also in blossom.

 

Between September and October, different types of chrysanthemum in blossom showcase their own charm. In addition, more than 60 species of sweet-scented osmanthus give out refreshing fragrance during the same period. In August, you’ll be able to find equinox flower in the garden.

 

From the late October to early December, leaves of many trees in the garden turn golden or light yellow, making for picturesque views to appreciate. If lucky enough, you may encounter lovely squirrels in the tree.

 

Baicao Garden is home to more than 1,000 medicinal plants. Han Meilin Gallery has exquisite sculptures, calligraphy works and paintings to enjoy. Han Meilin (1936 – ) is an outstanding artist in China. He is good at painting, calligraphy, design, writing, sculpture, and ceramics.

 

If you feel hungry in the garden, you can enjoy the local cuisine at a local restaurant or try a cup of tea at the tea house.

The best time to visit the Hangzhou Botanical Garden is in the morning as it is not hot.

The best months to visit are from April to October.


How to get to the Hangzhou Botanical Garden

A few buses pass by the garden. Thus, there are a few options.

  • Rent a vehicle to the garden. This is the quickest and most direct option.
  • Take Bus 7, 15, 27, 28, or Bus 82 to the Stop of Zhiwuyuan (植物园). Then walk to the garden.
