Gunanmen - with a history of over 1,300 years

Standing at the north bank of the Ronghu Lake, Gunanmen Gate was originally built in 621. The existing one was rebuilt after the Anti-Japanese War. It is 5.3 meters tall, 39.4 meters long and 19.4 meters thin.

What to expect at Gunanmen
The existing Gunanmen has an area of 130 square meters. There are stone railings with fine carvings in the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644) near the gate. The red doors of the gate are not big. The building is situated on the gate. Unfortunately, the gate is closed to the public.
Around the Gunanmen Gate are old trees. The most out-standing one is an old banyan tree which is said to be more than 1,000 years old. The City Gate Garden is built with a style of the Classical Chinese garden. You could walk on the wooden bridge leading to the pavilion in the Ronghu Lake. Many local elders like to enjoy fishing near the lake as well.

How to get to Gunanmen
As Gunanmen is located in a “No Traffic Zone”, there is no direct bus to the gate. But you could take a bus to the closest bus stop and walk to the gate after getting off the bus.
- You could rent a vehicle to the Ronghu Hotel and walk to the gate.
- Take Bus 10, 11, and Bus 91 to the Stop of Yangqiao Bridge (阳桥站). Then walk to the gate.

- The inside of Gunanmen is not opened to the public. But tourists can explore the exterior facade.
