What to expect at Fuboshan

Fuboshan is also popular among locals, especially the local elder. They usually like to do morning exercises at Fuboshan Park. If you visit the park at that time, you may see them practising Tai Chi or enjoying Square Dancing.

Fuboshan Park has the Thousand-People Pot well preserved in a pavilion. Originally as the pot for monks in the temple, the pot was in the Dingyue Temple. During the Anti-Japanese Period, the temple was unfortunately destroyed by the Japanese helicopter. The pot was removed to the pavilion. Cast in Foshan in 1663, it has a diameter of 1.6 meters.

Return Pearl Cave covers an area of around 600 square meters. Originally, there was just one entrance to the cave. People had to take a boat into the cave. Later, people dug one entrance in the south and west side of the cave respectively that people are able to explore the cave on foot.

There are several old pieces of stone inscriptions on the wall of the cave. In addition, more than 200 statues of Buddha carved in the Tang Dynasty (618 – 907) can be found in the cave. The most impressive is the carved self-portrait of Mi Fu (1051 – 1107) , an calligrapher and painter in the Northern Song Dynasty (960 – 1127).
