What to expect at the Daqin Pagoda
Daqin Pagoda is situated more than 70 kilometers from Xi’an City. In the Tang Dynasty (618 – 907), Rome was called “Da Qin” by Chinese. The Nestorian church was named “Daqin Temple”. The pagoda is octagonal. The seven-storeyed pagoda was built in hollow bricks with a diameter of 10.86 meters inside. The door on the ground floor is 1.38 meters wide. The wall of the ground floor is 4 meters deep.

There are two small arches in two walls on every floor from the first floor to the four floor. But the top of the ground floor is closed. Therefore, visitors can’t walk the stairs to the top of the pagoda. The axis of the pagoda is 2.7 meters away from the vertical line. Visitors can admire the Nestorianism clay sculptures, ancient Syrian inscriptions and the picture of Nativity scene.
