What to expect at Crown Cave Guilin
Lying by the Li River, the Crown Cave is divided into 3 layers. Located 19 kilometers south of the Daxu Ancient Town, the cave offers 5 ways to explore. The first and second layers are caves while the third one is an underground river. The river is around 700 meters long.
From the ticket office to the entrance to the cave, you could take a toboggan. The toboggan takes you to enjoy the natural views for around 3 kilometers long outside the cave. Then, take a boat to enjoy views on the underground river. The distance for the cruise is about 700 meters long. You’ll get a flashlight to see the stalactites clear during the cruise. One boat can just accommodate 12 tourists. After the cruise, you could take a electric train in the cave. The train runs for 500 meters in the cave. Along the journey, you’ll see water drop down. So please take an umbrella with you to keep dry. During the visit, you could take the tallest sightseeing elevator in Asia which is 36 meters tall down to the third layer home to the underground waterfall.
In the cave, you’d need to walk for 1,000 meters to enjoy the views as well. In addition, you’ll find the local spirit kept in the cave. From the Tang Dynasty (618 – 907) to the Qing Dynasty (1644 – 1912), the cave was popular among tourists, poets and writers. You may see some stone inscriptions in the cave.
